How It Was Tested:

After an extended demo, I liked it so much that I kept it (only do this with favorites). This is an insole, so it’s not something that gets passed around for obvious reasons.

I was not paid to write this review, which is based on an honest, objective perspective with no brand oversight.

Approximate Weight

(We don’t put in the exact weight because, with wood cores, there is no consistency in a board’s weight)

Sizing

The Kingfoam Orthotic Elite Insole comes in two .5 sizes. For example, I get a 9-9.5 for my 9’s and just cut them down a touch. I just lay my factory boot insoles on top of them and cut them away.

Shock Absorption

This is why you get the Kingfoam Orthotic Elite Insole. I know new Footprint insoles are coming out, but I haven’t tested them yet. So when I’m writing this, these are the most shock-absorbent insoles in the Footprints line that I’ve tried, and this is the most shock-absorbent brand I’ve ever tried. There is even a very strong metatarsal pad, which I love.

Volume

The Kingfoam Orthotic Elite Insole is pretty thick in the ankle. It tapers down as you get to the toes, but overall, it’s thicker than most insoles. I don’t have a super high instep, but these might not fit if you do.

Slippery Bottom

If I could change one thing, it would be the somewhat slick bottom. I tried using sandpaper to rough it up to improve grip, but it didn’t help as much as I’d hoped, especially with boots that have reflective tech that helps heat them.

Moldability

The Footprint Kingfoam Orthotic Elite isn’t heat moldable but molds to your foot a few minutes after you step in. It also feels softer in all temperatures, while most Footprint Insoles take longer to get soft and warm.

Final Thoughts

So these aren’t perfect but the shock absorption is so exceptional I can’t live without them right now. Even with really shock-absorbent boots, I still reach for them as it makes everything better. Insoles like these improve your snowboarding life span.
