Jones MTN Surf Anorak 2023 Review by The Good Ride
Swipe Right: Using more burly materials for high wear areas.
Swipe Left: On the pricier side for the specs.
Summary: The Mountain Surf Anorak is made to be a daily driver resort jacket. The burlier, two layer fabric on the shoulders, arms and chest allow for you to stay dry on stormy days. While the stretchier fabric on the rest of the body allows for proper temperature regulation. It matches together with the Mountain Surf bibs to create a super stylish kit. Both the Anorak and Bib come in a relaxed fit.

How This Review Happened
We were fortunate enough to visit the Jones headquarters in Truckee California and film this review in their beautiful new studio.
Fit
The Jones Mountain Surf Anorak has a relaxed fit. A little baggier then the rest of the jackets in the Jones outerwear line.
Construction
The Jones Mountain Surf Anorak has a durable two layer construction in the high exposure areas of the hood and arms. Four way stretch fabric throughout the body. I love the feel of this construction. It is the type of material that sheds snow efficiently. The seams are welded strongly.
Waterproofing/Breathability
We haven’t field tested this jacket. The jacket is rated at 20k waterproof/ 20k breathability
Hood/Helmet compatibility
We love the contoured hood with the Jones Mountain Surf Anorak. Excellent fit with the large jacket over the medium helmet. Expecting a medium jacket hood to fit a medium sized helmet no problem.
Cuff/Glove Compatibility
Easily fits over a normal glove, as well as, underneath a glove with a large wrist cuff.
Backpack Compatibility
The Jones Mountain Surf Anorak is not the most backpack friendly design in the Jones outerwear line. This jacket has a slightly baggier fit that can bunch up a little bit when wearing a backpack with straps. Upper zipper kangaroo pocket sits nicely above the waist belt on a backpack.
Venting/Pit zips
There are two large armpit zippered vents with the Jones Mountain Surf Anorak. Not mesh lined for optimal heat displacement.
Pockets
The large kangaroo pocket has a seam in the middle of it, that separates the two sides. This could either be a plus or a minus depending on your pocket use habits. The zippered upper kangaroo pocket comes with a carabiner loop. Pass pocket on the sleeve. There is also a large internal zippered chest pocket.
Powder Skirt
The Jones Mountain Surf Anorak has a permanently attached powder skirt.
Conclusion
I really like the Jones Mountain Surf Anorak and I think it has everything you need for a daily driver. The fit borders on the tight side but it is flattering. The construction is very high quality. It has great pocket and ventilation options. I especially love the frost blue color way shown in the video.
