Jones Shralpinist Stretch Jacket 2023 Review by The Good Ride
Swipe Right: Ultra breathable. Four way stretch fabric doesn’t have the classic crinkly gore-tex feel. 100% recycled material.
Swipe Left: Not going to stay dry in very wet weather as well as gore-tex or gore-tex pro. That’s what we hear but we’ll be testing it this season so check back.
Summary: The Jones Shralpinist stretch jacket has a four way stretch fabric with a 30k beathability/30k waterpoofing rating. This is a super breathable, yet durable jacket that is going to feel more comfortable than other high end snowboard jackets.
Ethics Statement: We don’t get paid by the manufacturer to write these reviews. We do make money from the “Where To Buy” links, but this is our best attempt at an honest and objective review from an average riders’ perspective.

How This Review Happened
We were fortunate enough to visit the Jones headquarters in Truckee California and film this review in their beautiful new studio.
Fit
The Jones shralpinist stretch jacket has a normal fit. Not too tight, not too baggy.
Construction
The Jones shralpinist stretch jacket has a four way stretch fabric. Minimalist design with strongly welded seams.
Waterproofing/Breathability
We haven’t field tested the Jones shralpinist stretch jacket, but it is rated at 30k breathability/30k waterproofing. This is extremely breathable. The waterproof rating is also pretty high for a jacket with this much breathability. Seems like a great option for people that need something more breathable than gore tex.
Hood/Helmet compatibility
We love the contoured hood on the Jones shralpinist stretch jacket. Excellent fit with the large jacket over the medium helmet. Expecting a medium jacket hood to fit a medium sized helmet no problem.
Cuff/Glove Compatibility
Easily fits over a normal glove, as well as, underneath a glove with a large wrist cuff.
Backpack Compatibility
The jacket fits great under a backpack. This jacket is designed for uphill travel with its highly breathable fabric. Chest and waist pockets are accessible with a backpack fully strapped up.
Venting/Pit zips
There are two large armpit zippered vents with the Jones shralpinist stretch jacket. Not mesh lined for optimal heat displacement.
Pockets
Two extra large zippered chest pockets with a beacon loop. Two extra large zippered waist pockets. Pass pocket on the sleeve. One large internal zippered chest pocket.
Powder Skirt
The Jones shralpinist stretch jacket comes with a permanently attached powder skirt.
Conclusion
I really like the concept of this jacket. The added breathability over gore-tex is the reason why I’m looking to make this jacket my daily driver this season. I hike a couple quick laps before the resort open, and ride the chairlift until the powder is gone. Sometimes I hike another lap or two after that. This jacket seems like it is going to be the perfect piece to handle big days like this. I will have an updated review after the season but, please feel free to email or message me on instagram to get an update on this jacket’s performance anytime throughout the season.
