We borrowed this for an extended demo and sent it back.

Set-Up: 21.5” Wide. 21 front -6 back. Close to Reference and Set all the way back.

Approximate Weight:

The Season Aero is pretty medium bordering on being light. (We don’t put in the exact weight because with wood cores there is no consistency in a boards weight)

Sizing

The 157 Felt right for my boot size.

Here are some ideal US boot sizes for the Season Eqpt. Aero. You can of course go bigger or smaller but these work best for not turning the board slower than it should be and not having the dreaded Toe & Heel Drag.
151: 7-8
154: 8-9
157: 9-9.5
160: 9.5-10
163w: 10.5-11.5

Shape/Camber/On Snow Feel/Ability Level

The Season Aero has some taper but you don’t feel it as much as you would think. You don’t need a lot more back foot weight. In comparison to the Nexus it felt like you were more centered on board no matter where you set up your bindings. Even set all the way back I felt like I was steering between my feet.

When it comes to camber it has a ton. If there is any early rise I can’t really see it. This is not easy to skid a turn and it is pretty catchy. I don’t like having to be on my game at all times but it sure does track well and reward you with full camber pop.

Flex/Pop/Buttering

The Season Aero is medium to med/stiff when it comes to flex. It has a nice balance between feeling rubbery and damp and being springy. It has pretty easily accessible ollie power. Not super easy to butter but it was doable with some effort.

Speed

The Aero is much faster than the Nexus and feels more like a traditional Freeride board. The Nexus has more of a mountain freestyle flex with a tapered set back directional flex. The Aero has a centered mountain freestyle feel on board with a tapered, directional, medium/stiffish flex.

The base is exceptional and when waxed has amazing glide. It will help with getting through a long traverse.

Uneven Terrain

The Season Aero is a great all day resort ride. It is poppy but not bucky and it handles all kinds of uneven snow really well. It is much better than the Nexus for powering over stuff but it isn’t invincible. It’s best at moderate to medium/fast speeds and isn’t for the guy who straight lines over everything.

Edge Hold

No real disruptions but it gripped well enough in hard snow and didn’t grab when it was soft.

Turn Initiation

Pretty quick edge to edge.

Turning Experience/Carving

Once you get the Season Aero on edge it didn’t have as tight a turning radius for me as the Nexus. I felt like I could get the Nexus to circle carve a bit easier. Not sure why spec wise. Maybe it is the shorter effective edge, 2 cm shorter length and that extra taper but not sure exactly what special sauce made the Nexus more turny. It favors longer drawn out S-Turns just a little more but can still make any kind of turn you want. So in the video review above I get a little focused on the comparison between this and the Nexus but if you are reading this it is a hard carving, pretty balanced turner.

Powder

There is pretty decent Set back on board but like I said above it felt more centered on board than the Nexus when set as far back as I could do with a 21.5” stance witdh. This made The Season Aero harder to get directional float in powder and I was using my back foot a lot. If you know how to ride camber in powder this will be fine. If you want some more cheater directional float then it’s the Nexus or a board with more early rise. On Reference at 22” wide you can get -1.5” back on board. Set all the way back at -22” you can get -3” back on board. If you compare that to the Nexus it is -2.25” back at 22” wide and -3.75” back at 22”. Both have similar taper so I really felt that difference when set back in powder.

Conclusion

So for me, I liked the Nexus better than the Aero because I liked the softer flex, the way it felt set way back on board and the way it turned for my riding style. I’m a mellow rider though. If you want something stiffer with a more centered feel while still having some of the advantages of a tapered directional shape the Season Aero will be the better call.
