Fit (Length, Width & Instep)/Liner

The size 9 US Nitro Team TLS fit me really well for my size 9 E’s. I had a little pressure on my instep/top of the foot to start with, but after a few days, it disappeared. It was the same for a bit of pressure on my Achilles heel, but that went away, too. It never felt too narrow, even from day one, which is excellent for E widths. The liner is super comfortable, well-made, and very heat-moldable if you need to dial it out. I never had to.

Lacing/Heel Hold

Let’s talk about TLS lacing. You have an upper and lower on the outside and then a very simple quick lace on the inside. That’s it. It’s super fast in and out and super efficient and supportive. I felt no heel lift, and most won’t as well. Yes, it can tangle a little bit, but it’s pretty reliable, and you can run regular laces through this if the Speed lacing breaks. So you might only miss a few runs.

Flex/Response/ Flex Retention/Construction

The Nitro Team TLS has a pretty medium flex that borders on being medium stiff and response to match. It can power almost any board out there without overpowering it.

What I like about this construction is that it allows this boot to retain its flexibility for a very long time. It also looks like it’s made to last a long time without falling apart.

Sole Traction & Shock Absorption

There is Great shock absorption with The Nitro Team TLS airbag combined with a lot of EVA foam, and it’s some of the best in the industry I’ve tried. What’s even cooler is this sole doesn’t feel squishy soft like the old Tactical ADV did, so it has a more responsive sole when you want it and shock absorption when you need it. Then, there is a thick Vibram sole.

When I took out the factory insole, which isn’t bad, and put in my Footprint Kingfoam Orthotic Fluidx, it even added to the shock absorption and really reduced fatigue.

Size 9: 29.6cm in length

I found this to be pretty reduced with a decent curve up in the toe and heel. I can’t speak to the footprint in bigger sizes where it’s most important yet, but this 9 is pretty close to Burton, which is the best.

Conclusion

The more I ride the Nitro Team TLS, the more I like it, and this is surrounded by two other great boots. I chose this as my daily driver because the flex retention is exceptional, and it has excellent shock absorption.
