Positives
- Dynamic Flex
- Carves Hard
- Excellent float for an all mountain board.
- Grips hard snow very well
- Very versatile one board quiver.
Negatives
- A little wide for some boots
- A bit on the catchy side
Summary
The YES Standard Uninc has pretty dynamic pop, a centered hard carving stance on groomers and very competent freeride style directional float. If you are more of a mid/wide board size, this is a great one-board solution for the advanced to expert rider. Update 2025: The Yes Standard Uninc did not change much. It only has a new size (149 and new graphics), and according to YES, the carbon strips were removed. I own the 2024, and it still feels very similar. Everything else is the same, so this review still stands.Where To Buy

How It Was Tested
Most days I rode this I often took out the YES Basic Uninc.
Approximate Weight
The YES Standard Uninc felt pretty normal for this size/width board. (We don’t put in the exact weight because with wood cores there is no consistency in a boards weight)
Sizing
With size 9’s, I was a bit small boot wise and the YES Standard Uninc 156 felt a little slow especially compared to the YES Basic Uninc. At 185-190lbs I felt like I wasn’t too much for this board but on the upper end of it’s limits.
Davey’s size 12’s worked really well with the 162. The board did chatter more than it should with his 240lbs but it was doable for sure.
You have an indention at the waist so it is actually much wider over the inserts than you would think. Here are some ideal US boot sizes for these boards. You can of course go bigger or smaller but these work best for not turning the board slower than it should be and not having the dreaded Toe & Heel Drag.
149: 7-8
153: 9-10
156: 10-11
159: 11-12
162- 12-13
For weight I would stay close to YES’s recommended weight ranges. If it comes down to boot size or weight, make sure it fits your boot first and then your weight a close second.
Shape
The Directional Volume Twin thing is a pretty cool design. It is a twin on sidecut so on groomers it feels like a twin. The nose is longer and has a good bit more surface area. The tail is shorter and has a lot less surface area and near the end of the tail it is not very wide. That makes it feel almost like a tapered board in pow.
Camber/On Snow Feel
The YES Standard Uninc has a lot of camber with a mellow transition into a little early rise before the nose/tail. It makes for a semi-locked-in feel that is on the border between being stable and semi-locked-in. It’s great for committed intermediates to expert riders but not best for beginners or not that committed intermediates. There is a lot more than the YES Standard but a good bit less than a full camber ride. You can skid turns but it isn’t super easy. The old Basic Uninc had a little less camber but the 2025 version has more than the Standard Uninc.
Flex Personality
So the YES Standard Uninc feels softer in the tip/tail than the YES Ghost (previous model with the same shape and camber profile) It also has a more dynamic feel underfoot that flexes a little easier but also pops a little harder. I had a great time buttering and there was really good spring on an ollie.
Base Glide/Speed
The Base Glide isn’t amazing but it is very competent when well waxed. I wish these had a little more glide to match Jones though. They always feel a little slower on same day tests.
You can point it rather well with the YES Standard Uninc but it isn’t a bomber. The tip and tail can chatter a little bit but for a deepish sidecut with an indention in the waist, it doesn’t feel hooky.
Edge Hold
The Mid-Bite technology of the YES Standard Uninc is almost there with Tapered Underbite and has an exceptionally confident grip in hard to icy snow. It is just a shade behind the slightly more aggressive disruption of Underbite. This is a great choice if you see hard snow often. It can grab a little bit too much for some in softer snow. Didn’t bother us though.
Turning Experience/Carving
If you compare the YES Standard Uninc to the Standard when it comes to springy turns there is no comparison. The YES Standard just doesn’t have much camber between the feet so you don’t get much out of a turn. With the YES Standard Uninc you really have a lot of camber and spring out of the turn. With size 9 boots on the 156 I was completely toe/heel drag free and just railed all kinds of turning radiuses. It is a little on the turny side but doesn’t fight you with more down the line/narrower s-turns. If you size this right this mid-wide will turn very quickly but if you are a regular to slightly smaller boot size you will find it slower.
Powder
The YES Standard Uninc can float. I love the 21.5” reference stance and that works with the slam back inserts for powder. With that 21.5” reference stance you can get -2.25” back from center of board. Then you factor in that longer nose, a little bit of early rise and a narrower tail you can get really good directional float on par with some moderately tapered boards. I wish my YES Basic Uninc with a stance width of 22.5” had the 21.5” stance width of the Standard Uninc and wish it had that directional volume twin shape too. In a little over 1.5 feet of pow I didn’t feel like the Standard Uninc was doing really well. The regular Standard does a touch better but I actually liked it better than the Warca on a same day test.
Switch/Pipe/Jumps
When you are on reference stance the YES Standard Uninc feels like a twin between the tip/tail. When buttering the nose and tail feel a touch different but overall you feel like you are on a true twin. You can really go big if you want to hit kickers. Very stable approach and landing. Pipe is pretty fun if you are sized correctly for it. Jibs aren’t ideal for most average riders like us.
Conclusion
So the YES Standard Uninc offers up a lot of versatility for a one board quiver and has a lot of appeal for people with slightly larger feet for their size.
