Summary

The Ride LTD is one of those bindings that just blends in well with any board we tried.

Ride LTD 2020 - 2017 Review by The Good Ride

Ethics Statement: We don’t get paid by the manufacturer to write these reviews.  We do make money from the “Where To Buy” links, but this is our best attempt at an honest and objective review from an average riders’ perspective.

How This Review Happened:  We borrowed this for an extended demo and then returned it but also had a couple of laps at a frantic manic demo day.

Days:  4
Riders:  James (Size 9, 5’10” 185-195lbs), Peter (Size 8, 5’11” 185lbs)
Boots: Adidas Tactical ADV
Insoles: Sandsole Custom Insoles, Footprint Insole Technology Gamechangers, Footprint Insole Technology Gamechangers Lite, Footprint Insole Technology Gameghangers Low Profile
Boards: Gentemstick Mantaray 156, Ride Burnout, Ride Berzerker, Ride Superpig.

Highback Flex: There is a good twist to it but pulling this straight back has more rigidity.

Binding to Boot Adjustability: You can dial out the Ride LTD well for most boot sizes and we like the adjustability here.

Stance Width Adjustability: If you turn the discs sideways they have more adjustability for a mini-disc than most and you can slide it a little further each way.

Comfort: No real pressure points from the ankle strap on the LTD.

Boot Support: The medium-sized ankle strap has a nice balance between being supportive but still allowing you to feel a bit free. What we really like is how much plastic there is around the soft rubber of the toe strap so it can pull your boot in pretty tight. Some softer rubber toe straps can just keep stretching and stretching and stretching but never really pull your boot in. These have grip but also pull the boot in.

Turn Initiation: What was surprising about the Ride LTD was how well it turned just about any board that I put it on. It doesn’t feel like it is going to be as responsive as it does but it blends smoothness with sharpness very well for a pretty predictable feel.

Buttering/Flex Underfoot: The Ride LTD did a great job minimizing contact with the board and it makes boards that aren’t super stiff feel softer underfoot. It has a lot of that magic that Burton Re:Flex or Union Mini Disc bindings have and makes a board butter easier. We didn’t feel it as much on the Berzerker but sure did on the Burnout and the Mantaray that have a softer flex. Especially when I compared it to less buttery bindings like the Union Atlas.

Ratchet System: Pretty good but not amazing. Never felt like the brought attention to themselves in a good or bad way.

Shock Absorption: The Ride LTD has a very cushy soft footbed that handles off landings or uneven snow and some good stuff going on around the sides of the metal base plate to dampen up the ride at higher speeds.

So the little refinements with this disc have made us like it a little more every year and it held up really well against some of our favorites.

Ride LTD Past Reviews

The Ride LTD snowboard binding provides a good flexing high back, nice feel underfoot, lots of freedom of movement and it’s a great choice for those who like to butter.
