Who Are We

We have ridden over 800 different men’s and women’s snowboards but we are far from being pro’s. The Good Ride represents the voice of the average rider and we do our best to present honest and objective reviews. After extensive testing in lots of conditions these are the boards we call our favorites and want to have in our personal quiver. Here’s a look at our women’s favorite freestyle and all mountain freestyle boards for the 2021 winter season.

Ethics Statement: We do make money from the “Where To Buy” links, but this is our best attempt at an honest and objective review from an average riders’ perspective. We don’t get paid by the manufacturer to write these reviews. We get these boards under the condition we are allowed to express our unaltered opinion.

All Mountain Freestyle

What is an All Mountain Freestyle Board?

Usually for those that like to spend equal time in the park and mountain.  When on the mountain they like to turn the mountain into a park. But also occasionally like to make good turns and enjoy groomers. These riders spend a lot of their time riding switch. When in the park they are also more into the pipe and jumps.  Some can ride well on rails/boxes but most aren’t that solid there.
Size- Usually small to mid size.
Flex- Usually Med/Soft to Medium.
If you want to ride the park but also like to ride the mountain like a park, these are great boards and there are a lot out there.

Rossignol Diva

The Rossignol Diva LF is a freestyle twin board that is geared towards a more aggressive riding style. It has a stiffer flex than most freestyle boards (7/10) and has a lot of energy and pop too. The Diva can hang on the bigger jumps/drops, pipe and everywhere else on the mountain too. It comes with a softer waist that keeps it quick to turn. And has camber between the feet and rocker on the nose and tail. The serrated edge on the side-cut keeps you connected to the snow in icy conditions. And the rocker on the nose and tail adds float in softer snow.

Never Summer Proto Synthesis

The Never Summer Proto Synthesis is the new twin from NS this season! It comes with Never Summer’s new Shock Wave Rocker Camber. (Slight rocker between the feet and camber outside of the feet) This camber profile has an elongated camber section that gives the board a ton of energy and pop. And keeps it super stable too. It has a 6/10 flex and is very quick to turn as well. This board is geared towards intermediate to advanced riders who ride the park just as much as all mountain.

Capita Paradise

The Capita Paradise is a true twin ride that comes with a medium flex, camber between the feet, and rocker on the nose and tail. This board is playful and fun to ride just about everywhere. It does well in the park, pipe, goomers, and even off piste. If you are a rider that likes to ride centered, rides switch a lot and loves to take a freestyle approach everywhere you ride, then the Capita Paradise would tick all those boxes.

Yes Emoticon

The Yes Emoticon is a true twin board with camber between the feet, and rocker on the nose and tail. It is easy going when riding it, and has a slightly softer flex than the two boards listed above. It is great for lightweight riders like myself, or riders who like to take a freestyle approach all over the mountain. The Emoticon is super quick and nimble to turn, has the Under-bite from Yes that helps you keep your edge in icy conditions. And can ride in the park just as well as all over the mountain. It likes to turn, but isn’t a high speed charger. It wants to explore all the nooks and crannies the mountain has to offer.

Freestyle

What is a Freestyle Board?

Much more of a full-time park board that is usually friendly with jumps and jibs but often times is good in the pipe too.  Most are mainly for the park but there are some that overlap into the All Mountain Freestyle category and can ride the mountain well too. They just shine more in the park.
Size- Usually small to very small.
Flex- Usually Med/Soft to Soft.

Capita Space Metal Fantasy

If you live for rails and boxes, like a super playful/buttery board, then the Capita Space Metal Fantasy is right up your alley. This board is medium soft and easy to press and manipulate. You get zero camber between your feet, and rocker on the nose and tail. This board lives for the jib park or street spots. It has a very fun personality and is down for any trick you want to throw its way.

GNU Ladies Choice

This freestyle specific twin thrives in hard snow conditions, and comes with an asymmetrical shape so switch riding is amazing. The GNU Ladies Choice comes with a C2x camber profile (which is rocker between the feet and camber outside of the feet). It fits with a wide variety of ability levels and riding styles and has a medium flex. The Ladies Choice is stable enough to ride all over the mountain with a freestyle approach and excels in the pipe and on jumps too.

Never Summer Shade

The Never Summer Shade has comes with rocker between the feet and camber outside of the feet. But it almost feels like riding a full rocker snowboard. It butters, spins, and plays like a full rocker board. But you get added control and stability from the camber zones outside of the feet. This board is great for riders who want to learn freestyle tricks, or more advanced riders looking for a fun, care free board.
