Positives

  • Comfortable
  • Much Better Shock Absorption Than A Factory Insole
  • Good Arch Support

Negatives

  • Not Ideal For Low To Medium Arch's
  • Flastic Like Bottom Doesn't Integrate Well With The Boots Midsole

Summary

The Remind Cush Impact is a medium-high-to-high-arch insole with pretty good shock absorption. And it's a massively better option than every factory insole you get. It comes at a pretty reasonable price point that won't break the bank.

An In Depth Breakdown of the Remind Cush Impact Insole Review by The Good Ride

Remind Cush High Impact - The Good Ride
Remind Cush High Impact – The Good Ride

How The Remind Cush Impact Insole Was Tested:

The Remind Cush was borrowed and, for sanitary reasons, wasn’t returned. No one wants a used insole…

So when I tested the Remind Cush Impact Insole, I rode the Cush on its own in the boot for like a full day. Then I would go out and do a sampler as I do with bindings and boots, to make sure I really understand how these sit on the spectrum. I got my Nitro team boots, my Union Force bindings, and my YES Greats snowboard, so I’m very familiar with all three and understand how that feels underfoot.

Then I started with the factory insole from Nitro, then moved through the line of all these insoles, taking the same run, doing the same turns, and seeing how they all felt underfoot. So this DCP and Chad Cush were compared against the heat-moldable remedy, the heat-moldable game changers from Footprint Insole Technology, the Kingfoam Orthotic Elite, and now the Kingfoam Orthotics. And the Travis Rice medic. It was a very good broad comparison, and it really gave me a good perspective.

Sizing/Fit/Liner

And when it comes to sizing, they make the Remind Cush Impact Insole in one-and-a-half sizes. So I’m a true size nine with an E width and a medium arch, and these are a 9 to 9.5. So I did have to trim them down just a little bit to fit in my boot and match the factory insole. They are a bit narrow for an E-width foot. And I did like that my Kingfoams are a little bit wider and they better match my foot size.

In terms of the arch fit. It was a bit much for my medium arch. So this is like medium high to high. It was still doable, and it’s a softer insole. So it did conform to my arch a little bit when it was inside the boot. Compared to my Kingfoam, this matches my arch much better.

Customization

The Remind Cush Impact Insole is not heat-moldable; it just naturally conforms to your foot when you’re in the boot. And over time, they get better and better. So they’re much more comparable to the footprint insole Kingfoam line than to the heat-moldable game-changer line or the Remind remedy.

And they’re a good bit softer and more like their name, Cush, in comparison to the Remind medic. Which is a good bit stiffer over the arch and in the heel area, but still has a soft area over the front foot.

Heel Cup

And there is a decent heel cup that really holds your heel in place. Compared to my Kingfoams, the heel position was good on these older ones. But with my Kingfoam Fluid X, which has a pretty thick gel. But when you step in, it conforms to your arch and pops up here. These have an even better heel cup than the Cush.

Thickness

And when it comes to the height of these, depending on your instep, these are 9.5, and the heel goes down to 5.5. In the toe.

Compared to my Kingfoam Orthotic Highs or Kingfoam Fluid X Highs, these are ten millimeters in the heel, tapering to five millimeters in the toe. And these feel a little smaller underfoot inside the boot than the Kingfoam highs, but a touch more than the Kingfoam mids, which are seven millimeters in the heel and five millimeters in the toe.

Shock Absorption

Remind Cush Bottom

And when it comes to shock absorption in same-day tests, I felt the Remind Cush Impact Insole was my favorite out of all the Remind insoles. I still felt it was a good bit behind my old Kingfoam orthotic elite. And especially the newer Kingfoams with infinity foam gel.

The Footprint Insole Tech Kingfoam was just providing shock absorption on another level, and because they’re pretty much the same foam throughout. It felt really integrated with the midsole of my boot and provided much more shock absorption than these Cushs.

And I would say the Remind Cush Impact’s shock absorption was way better than that of the best factory insoles I’ve tried, including the Nitro insole. It’s very soft and cushy, with a lot of shock absorption, but compared to brands like Battaeon, Nidecker, Ride, and Burton, they put out a pretty cheap insole that doesn’t do much to help with shock absorption. These are a huge step up.

My only complaint is that the plastic-like bottom doesn’t completely integrate with the boot’s midsole like any FP Insoles I’ve tried. They feel like they extend the boot insole, which creates what feels like an extra layer between them.

Final Thoughts

And overall, I think the Remind Cush Impact Insole is very good. They’re very doable for me personally. I’m going to use footprint insole technology. But in comparison to Sole Super Feet and all these other brands out there. Remind is doing a very good job. And if you have a really high arch, this might be the better option.
