How The FP Insoles Gamechangers Pro Were Tested

I do a pretty extensive test when I test insoles. I take out my Nitro Team boots, my Union Force bindings, and usually one of my favorite boards, like the YES Greats.

These Gamechangers Pro were tested over several days. I often start with the factory insole from the Nitro Team, then put in the Gamechangers Pro and compare them to other similar insoles.

Especially this year, I compared them against the Remind Remedy, the Remind Cush, and the Remind Medic. These were also compared against the regular Gamechangers, the Kingfoam Orthotic Pros, and the regular Kingfoams that I’ve been riding a lot this year.

I previously rode the Kingfoam Orthotic Elite, which was the older version. I even took the Gamechangers Pro out and compared them against a really high-end custom orthotic made specifically for my foot after a mold.

This is going to be one of the only real-world tests. This is about how they actually feel in my snowboard boots, how they ride on snow, and whether they are right for you and your feet.

With insoles, the brands don’t want these back for obvious sanitary reasons, but I liked these so much I chose to keep using them after I finished this review.  I only do that with favorites.

Sizing

When it comes to sizing, these come in a size 9 to 9.5, then a 10 to 10.5, and so on and so forth.

Being a true size 9 and an E width, I had to cut these down a bit, and they never cut perfectly. However, they fit fine inside the boot, even if they are a little imperfect.

In terms of width, I really miss the previous version of these Gamechangers that came with a wide extension. It did a really good job of fitting wide feet like mine.

Being an E width, I’m at the beginning of wide. I’m not ultra-wide, but there are many people who would really appreciate this wider shape. If you have narrow feet, all you have to do is cut it down.

In comparison to Remind, I find that Footprint comes a little wider, which is very much appreciated for me.

They also come in two thicknesses. This is the high, which is 10 millimeters in the heel, going down to 5 millimeters. They also make a medium, which is 7 millimeters in the heel, going down to 5 millimeters.

I have more of a medium instep, and I can generally fit the highs in almost any boot I try. They don’t seem to take up a lot of space inside the boot except in the heel area.

They quickly ramp down, giving you a lot of space in the toe area. I don’t think most people will have issues with this.

Gamechangers Over The Years

Let’s talk about the evolution of the Gamechangers.

I have an old Gamechangers insole from around 10-plus years ago. I believe it was heat molded to my arch, and I put a lot of days on it.

This used the older, more porous material. The shock absorption was the best at the time. There was nothing better, but it really changed according to the heat or cold.

If this were a current insole today, it wouldn’t get the best review. However, back then, it was amazing.

They then evolved into a new foam that was cold-resistant and made a much better insole that was much more shock absorbent. It was basically the Kingfoam material from a few years back, and it really changed the ride.

Some of them have a small heel pad, and some of them don’t. There is also a version with the metatarsal pad that is still around.

They then evolved into Infinity Foam, which really improved the shock absorption. You’ll see Infinity Foam throughout the line, including in the metatarsal area, underneath the cloth on the top, below the metatarsal and below the heel.

The FP Insole Gamechangers Pro also has Quantum Heel Tech. This heat molds and conforms to your arch, along with some inflatable material inside.

Arch Support/Customization

Speaking of arch support and heat moldability, if those are really important to you and you have a medium to high arch, this is the best out there at this price point.

I have a medium arch. The Gamechangers Pro is definitely better than the regular Gamechangers, and it’s better than the Remind Remedy.

I find that the Remind Remedy always has too high of an arch on the side.

If you compare it to the custom orthotic made specifically for my foot after a foot mold, I don’t have a very high arch. Those high arches on the side don’t really do much to lock in my foot. Instead, they just make it a little uncomfortable.

If you compare the Gamechangers Pro to my custom orthotics, they did a very good job of molding to my arch.

The Gamechangers Pro is also just a little stiffer under the arch than the regular Gamechangers because of the Quantum Heel Tech.

Heel Cup

The new Gamechangers have an exceptional heel cup. They really went for locking in the heel and allowing you more support inside the boot.

Shock Absorption

When it comes to shock absorption, this is where Footprint pulls away from everybody. They are the best.

I’m not talking about tests online that you see on social media. I’m talking about real-world testing and comparing them on the hill.

The Gamechangers Pro is arguably tied as the best in their line. They are right there with the regular Gamechangers, the Kingfoam Orthotic Pro and the new Fluid X3, which might even be better than all of them.

It’s so close, but these felt just a touch better than the rest. We’re talking about shades of excellence here.

Even looking at the regular Kingfoam, which doesn’t have all the bells and whistles or a deep heel cup, it has Infinity Foam in the heel and the metatarsal, with more on the bottom. It is incredibly shock absorbent as well.

It’s really hard to go wrong with any of their insoles. They do an amazing job of working with your boot’s midsole and feeling like they extend it.

At the same time, I don’t feel like they take away from the boot’s natural response.

Even in the highs, I feel that Remind, with its much stiffer material underfoot, gives you a little better response. However, it feels like it creates a layer between the midsole of the boot and the cushy material on top, so it doesn’t feel completely integrated.

Some of you might like that, and some of you might not. Personally, I like the Footprint feel a lot better.

Vs. Superfeet & Sole

You might have Superfeet. These are the Superfeet Snow, or you might have the Sole High Impact.

These are just not at the level of Remind at all. They are then another level behind Footprint.

They are not offering the kind of support, customization, and shock absorption that Footprint and Remind do. Those are two of the best insole manufacturers out there for snowboarders.

I choose Footprint. I like that extra shock absorption because we’re riding at speeds much higher than our bodies were designed to withstand.

Everything we can do to add a layer between the snow and our bodies is appreciated. Footprint is the best when it comes to that.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the FP Insole Gamechangers Pro is exceptional. I love having it in my lineup, and I’m going to use it as a daily driver, but it won’t be my only one.

I’m also going to use the Kingfoam Orthotic Pros a lot, as well as the Fluid X3. I might even throw in the regular orthotic because it has worked so well for me.

I used its previous form, the Kingfoam Orthotic Elite, for years.

It really comes down to what works best for your foot. There you have it.
