How This Review Happened:  I own this board and had Paige ride it for her take on the board as well.

Size: 144
Days:  30+ I own this board
Conditions: A little bit of everything for me, hard snow and groomers for Paige.
Riders: Steph
Boots: Vans Ferra
Bindings: Salomon Mirage
Set Up: 21.5” Centered 15 front -15 back

Sizes: 140, 144, 148, 152, 155

Approximate Weight: Feels normal for the size.

Flex: Feels pretty medium-ish.

On Snow Feel

It’s almost a full camber ride with only a little bit of early rise going on before the nose/tail. This makes this pretty catchy for a hybrid camber and it’s kinda in between hybrid camber and mostly camber.  It has a somewhat locked in but poppy/carvy all mountain to all mountain freestyle personality to it.

Edge Hold

Really good edge hold that borders on being something you can ride in icy conditions. Salomon’s  boards seem to ride in all conditions and understand what makes a board good in harder conditions.

Turn Initiation

Pretty quick edge to edge.

Skidded Turns

The Wonder is not ideal for intermediate riders that skid their turns a lot.  It can catch if you don’t skid out properly or get off your game.

Carving

Really fun to lay out turns on and Steph really enjoys it.

Speed

It’s not the fastest base but the flex and overall ride handle a straight line on a big mountain well. It’s not going to blow minds but it does well for its price point and comes with a sintered base.

Uneven Terrain

Likes to turn more in bumpy terrain. Not the type of board to power through chop and chunder.

Powder

The Wonder has some rocker and a little set back on side-cut as well as onboard. So you can get better float than you would on a camber equivalent. It could use a longer nose or a little more rocker or both to give it a little more directional float.

Switch

It’s a directional twin but when centered it rides almost as well as a true twin.

Jibbing

It is good for someone who has a background in jibbing already. The Salomon Wonder wouldn’t be ideal for learning jibs, or if you are looking for that super soft forgiving jib board.

Pipe

Great pipe board.  It has good edge hold and good camber as well as stability without feeling too stiff.

Jumps

Really good pop and this low-cost board has some spring to it for an ollie.  It’s also the kind of board that’s great for those that want to lap the jumps in the park.

Overall

The Salomon Wonder could fit many different riding personalities. It could be good for a beginner looking to get off green runs and improve their riding. It could also be good for the intermediate to advanced riders who want a fun nimble board that can preform all over the mountain.
