Nidecker Legacy 2012 - 2010 Review by The Good Ride

The Nidecker Legacy is the inspiration for the Yes Pick Your Line. Nidecker makes good boards and they just aren’t well known in the US.  If you are into the Yes Pick Your Line then you will like the Legacy because that is pretty much what the PYL is based on. The Yes Pick Your Line became more aggressive in 2013 where the Legacy stayed the same so this is a more mellow alternative to the PYL now…..if you can find it.

Ethics Statement: We don’t get paid by the manufacturer to write these reviews.  We do make money from the “Where To Buy” links, but this is our best attempt at an honest and objective review from an average riders’ perspective.

We like the PYL sizing better because we’d like to see a size larger than a 158 for regular feet but its still a fun board for certain types of riders.

It’s on the stiffer side of medium and is very aggressive in riding style.

The Legacy is a perfect board for riding the mountain and is ok in some areas in the park but will be a bit too stiff if you live to butter around the mountain.

The Legacy can own it in Powder for a snowboard of its size and is borderline excellent when it comes to float, due to its directional shape, directional rocker and a slight taper in the tail.

It is very stable at high speeds and not bad on a groomer day.

For 2012 the Legacy added a new sidecut called ultimate traction which is like a very mellow version of magnetraction to help increase the edge hold.

All in all the legacy is a great choice if you are looking for one board to do very well in powder and on the mountain.  Now that the 2013 Yes Pick Your Line has changed this is a good alternative for a more mellow easy to ride freeride board like the older PYL models.
