Summary

Turn Ons/Swipe Right: Cheap advanced to expert ride. Improved dampness and stiffer flex from the All Road 500. Turn Offs/Swipe Left: Slower Base and Mediumish Pop but very hard to be critical at this price point. The Decathlon Allroad 900 greatly improved from the Allroad 500. It has the same shape but a flex that better matches it’s design.

Approximate Weight

Feels normal for a 166.
(We don’t put in the exact weight because with wood cores there is no consistency in a boards weight)

Sizing

The 166 was just right for Davey with 12’s, 240lbs and 6’4” frame. It was a very big hard to control board for me with 9’s, 185ls and 6’4”.
Here are some ideal US boot sizes for these boards. You can of course go bigger or smaller depending on your riding style and boot’s footprint, but these work best for not turning the board slower than it should be and not having the dreaded Toe & Heel Drag.
166: 11-12

For weight I would stay close to the Brands recommended weight ranges. If it comes down to boot size or weight, I would make sure it fits your boot first and then your weight a close second.

Shape/Camber/On Snow Feel/Ability Level

The Decathlon Allroad 900 has the same slightly tapered, directional shape, and camber profile as the All Road 500 but with a stiffer flex.

There is the same camber profile that is very camber dominant but it does have a decent amount of early rise before the nose. There is a little early rise before the tail but this is a directional camber/mostly camber ride. It is far from full camber but more technical than most boards out there. This isn’t for beginners or intermediates.

Flex Personality

The improved flex over the Allroad 500 really changed up the ride. It matches more boards in this peer group now with a medium-stiff fex. It’s not a super easy board to butter but it was doable for stronger riders. Especially in the nose.

Uneven Terrain

The Decathlon Allroad 900 had a pretty good ability to deal with uneven snow of all kind.

Edge Hold

Very good grip in hard snow.

Speed

The base isn’t super fast but the Decathlon Allroad 900 is more damp than before. It’s hard to be critical of the base though at this price point.

Turning Experience/Carving

There is very good spring out of the turn for this price point and pretty good but not great compared to many boards in a higher price point.

Powder

Davey had some camera malfunctions but this did pretty good in powder. There is a -2.65” setback on board at a 23” stance width. It’s not super set back but there is a pretty big nose to give this good directional float. It’s a little more on the less directional/set back All Mountain board side but still pretty good.

Conclusion

So this isn’t going to unseat any favorites or punch way higher than it’s price point but it’s hard to think of any boards in this price range or even a little higher that can hang with it. The Decathlon All Road 900 is a great choice for a more advanced rider on a budget.
