Fit

The Cyclic pant used to be really tight around the crotch and thighs. Now it isn’t and they seem to take the same fit from the new pant into the bib. It was flattering on all three of our builds.

Construction

Burton Doesn’t skimp on construction and this Burton AK Cyclic Gore-Tex 2L Bib is no exception. There are a lot of cool innovations like the back strap holder, continuous inner leg vents, and the ability to raise up the back cuff of your pant leg so it doesn’t drag. You get really high quality here and the only drawback we found with this pant was the ultra thin, ultra porous mesh between you and the Gore-Tex membrane. It makes the pant very light and thin but it also doesn’t protect the Gore-Tex Membrane as much as Taffeta linings do with most 2L Gore-Tex Jackets and Pants.

Waterproofing/Breathability

I haven’t personally tried the Burton AK Cyclic Gore-Tex 2L Bib but I have owned many Cyclic Jackets and some pants over the years. They all did an amazing job with keeping you dry and blocking wind. I’ve had more breathable Bibs but they often didn’t block the wind as well as Gore-Tex. One thing is these Bibs feel a little more breathable than some 2L Gore-Tex pants just from that ultra light/thin/porous mesh liner.

Pockets

Lots of great pockets here.

Gaiters/Cuffs

Love the ability to pull up the back cuff and not have it drag when you are skating, hiking or walking around the resort.

Venting

The continuous inner leg vent is pretty exceptional and really regulates heat. If you want extra vents you have to go up to 3 Layer Gore-Tex bibs/pants or go to the Swash.

Conclusion

It is hard to go wrong with the Burton AK Cyclic Gore-Tex 2L Bib. It isn’t cheap but it give’s you almost all the features of Burton’s higher end 3L Gore-Tex but at a lower price. This is a great bib for those that split board or drift board a lot, like to hike or just run a little hot and want a thin 2 Layer Gore-Tex bib.
