Fit

The Jones Mountain Surf Pant has a relaxed fit, but I wouldn’t consider them baggy.

Construction

The Jones Mountain surf pant has 2 materials on the outer. A very burly fabric in high wear or high exposure areas. Then a less burley/more breathable fabric in

Waterproofing/Breathability

The Jones Mountain Surf Pant is rated at 20k waterproofing, and that feels about right, especially with the burlier fabric. It’s not there with Gore-Tex Pro and the Shralpinist Pant, but it’s really good. I’ve tested these pants and the bib in everything from cold, dry snow to rain, and they held up pretty well. What I really like is the windproofing. It blocks wind well and allows the layer under the shell to do its job.

Breathability seems like most jackets.  With two different outer materials, It might not be 20gm breathability everywhere, but I have the big open pit zips when I need to vent.

Pockets

3 pockets total. 2 large front zipper pockets with a mesh media holder and a microfleece lining. One large rear zipper pocket.

Gaitors/Cuffs

Standard boot gaiter.

Venting

2 large zippered side vents on the outside of the thighs. No inner crotch vents.

Buttons

2 extra sturdy buttons on the waist.

Liner

The Jones Mountain surf pant has a recycled polyester lining that is soft to the touch in most of the pants. In the butt and knees, there is a very short not that fuzzy microfleece, but it does add some extra warmth.

Conclusion

I really like the Jones Mountain Surf Pants. These seem like some of the most resort-focused pants in the Jones outerwear line. The relaxed fit is not too baggy. We just wish the pants came in the same colorways as the mountain surf bibs.
