Swipe Right: Relaxed fit for a less restricted range of motion. Burly fabric in high use areas.

Swipe Left: Not the same color-way as the mountain surf bibs. Not Gore-Tex

Summary: These pants are great for someone that prefers a looser fit and doesn’t encounter a lot of moisture on the mountain. There is a rugged fabric throughout the seat and knees for extra durability. The rest of the pant is a more breathable four way stretch fabric.

How This Review Happened

We were fortunate enough to visit the Jones headquarters in Truckee California and film this review in their beautiful new studio.

Fit 

The Jones mountain surf pant is made with a relaxed fit, however, I wouldn’t consider them baggy.

Construction

The Jones mountain surf pant consists of a four way stretch fabric, with extra durable fabric in the knees and seat. Very high quality seem welding and minimalist stitching.

Waterproofing/Breathability

We haven’t field tested this, but the Jones mountain surf pant is rated at 20k waterproofing/20k breathability for both fabrics. The fabric in the seat and knees has the same waterproof/breathability rating as the four way stretch fabric even though it is a rougher, abrasion resistant fabric.

Pockets

3 pockets total. 2 large front zipper pockets with a mesh media holder and a micro fleece lining. One large rear zipper pocket.

Gaitors/Cuffs

Standard boot gaitor.

Venting

2 large zippered side vents on the outside of the thighs. No inner crotch vents.

Buttons

2 extra sturdy buttons on the waist.

Liner

The Jones mountain surf pant has a recycled polyester lining that is soft to the touch.

Conclusion

I really like the Jones mountain surf pant. These seem like one of the most resort focused pants in the Jones outerwear line. The relaxed fit is not too baggy. We just wish the pants came in the same color-ways as the mountain surf bibs.
