Burton Hellbrook Premium 2013 Review by The Good Ride

The Burton Hellbrook Premium Pant is a well made well-built pant that offers a good amount of protection. It’s a slimmer version of the 2L Gore-Tex Highland Pant and it doesn’t have Gore-Tex.

Ethics Statement: We don’t get paid by the manufacturer to write these reviews.  No one is perfect and we do make money from the “Where To Buy” links below, but this is our best attempt at an honest and objective review from an average riders’ perspective

Size Tried: Medium
James’ Specs:
Height: 5’10”,
Weight: 195 lbs,
Waist 33”
Hips 42”
Inseam 30”
Upper Thigh 24.5”
Middle Thigh 22”
Calves 17”
Turn On’s: Size M pants that fit well around my thighs, Riding with Friends, Open Roads, new gear and especially my wife.
Turn Off’s: M Pants that I can’t get up over my thighs, traffic, and people who can’t park inside the lines.

Fit: It’s a bit on the snug side and tight around my thighs.  There isn’t much room to get my keys in and out.  For most, this would not be considered a mid fit but instead semi-tight.

Construction: It’s built like many high-end pants that have Gore-Tex. You don’t usually have to worry about Burton when it comes to construction.

Insulation/Warmth: Pretty much a normal pant that isn’t cold like a thin technical shell but you can’t solely depend on this for warmth.

Waterproofing: 15k is pretty decent with Burton but it’s still a good bit behind their higher end pants. It will work if you see wet snow on occasion.

Breathability: 10k ain’t much to write home about but it will breathe if you don’t overheat quickly.

Overall:  If this fits ya it’s a great pant that can offer a good bit of protection from the elements and like the Highland Pant it offers more warmth than a regular pant.
