Good Pant But Not Great
I've been wearing these pants for about 6 days so far in variable conditions and overall, I do like them. I was searching for a womens pant with excellent waterproofing, a baggy fit, with lots of pockets and on this front, this pant is awesome!! (I bought a medium). They are comfy and I have pocket space for all my stuff. I can bend and move and fit layers under them. Great!! They feel like they should last me awhile.
But there are two things I do not like about this pant:
1) The elastic of the boot gaiter is so loose that snow gets up the bottom of the pants. I haven't even been in some serious powder yet and I find snow where snow shouldn't be. I will be sewing up a modification to fix this myself, but seriously 686? The elastic of that cuff hardly stretches! For reference: I'm wearing ThirtyTwo lashed double boa boots, size 7.5 with a M pant.
2) The inner leg zips need weather proof zippers. The pant itself is well insulated and is warm. I've worn them at -10C with leggings and I've been fine as long as it isn't windy. For colder weather, I need another layer. But the wind/cold rips right though those zippers as if they were wide open. It makes it feel like there is no insulation at all in the pant at all and I need to wear extra layers to make up for this... and if I don't, I need to squeeze my knees together on the chairlift to block the wind... which is absurd.
