Bonfire Topaz 2019 Review by The Good Ride

The Bonfire Topaz Jacket is a fully insulated jacket with 15k waterproofing at a decent price point. The fit is a little bit snug for a medium but isn’t too bad if you are looking for a nice warm jacket for under $200.

Ethics Statement: We don’t get paid by the manufacturer to write these reviews.  No one is perfect and we do make money from the “Where To Buy” links below, but this is our best attempt at an honest and objective review from an average riders’ perspective.

Jacket
Size Tried: Med
Steph’s Specs:
Height: 5’3”
Weight: 108 lbs
Chest: 29”
Upper Chest: 32”
Arm Length (pit to wrist) 20”
Neck: 12.5″
Torso Length (collarbone to pant line) 18”
Shoulder Width 16” wide

Helmet: Smith Maze

Goggles: Dragon

Fit: Regular cut with a little tailoring in the torso. I would personally size up to a large if I was going to ride in this jacket, but if you are a smaller person (I have lanky arms) then this might be a good fit.

Construction: Seemed to be well made and durable.

Hood: Fixed contoured hood, it was a little snug over my helmet and pulled a little at the shoulders but had a nice seal around the goggles when I tucked down.

Insulation/Warmth: Well insulated in the body and arms, would be a nice warm jacket.

Waterproofing: 15k, would do fine in most situations, but not ideal for wet storm riding.

Breathability:  10k

Packability: Normal, not very packable since it is fully insulated.

Overall: Nice jacket for under $200. It is well insulated, has some nice features and seems to be well made. A little on the snug size so just make sure to check the specs against your own.
