Bent Metal Women’s Binding Video And Written Review Review by The Good Ride

The Bent Metal Upshot is a binding that offers up pretty good flex underfoot, different base plate options for response and an ankle strap that seems to be more supportive and comfortable than the men’s versions. Steph liked the 2019 Bent Metal Upshot model better than the 2018 model because of the improved ankle strap. But she still thinks the older model is still pretty good too.

Days: A few runs at demo days

Riders: Steph

Boots: Nike Zoom Force 1

Boards: GNU Hyper Karve, GNU Ladies Choice

Highback Flex

On the soft side of medium, definitely butter-able and tweak-able.

Boot Adjustability

They are easy to adjust. Love the high back adjustment where you just turn the nob and you have all your different settings ready for you. The Upshot bindings come with a soft drive plate, but you can switch it out with other more aggressive ones if you want. They have tool-less adjustability on the straps as well.

Stance Width Adjustability

Great

Comfort

We found them to be really comfortable and smooth riding. The toe straps and the ankle straps worked great with no pinching even though there’s no extra padding on there.

Boot Support

Great freestyle type support from the ankle strap the way it fits with your boot, and it is super lightweight. My boot fit well in the heel cup as well. Sometimes bindings are too tight or there’s too much room, the Upshot was somewhere between those two extremes.

Turn Initiation

I found the Upshots to have a good response for a more flexible binding and were fun to turn on.

Buttering

Easy and comfortable to butter and play around with the flexy high back.

Ratchet System

The ratchets all work fluid and quick, no issues here.

Shock Absorption

They are a pretty smooth ride. There’s not much dampening in the footbed but wasn’t bad.
