Summary

The Bent Metal AxTion Binding is a pretty middle-ground binding across our rating spectrum with nothing exceptional but nothing that causes problems either.

Approximate Weight

It feels like it was on the light side of normal.

Highback Flex

Nice medium flex with an easy flex that doesn’t bite into your calves.

Binding to Boot Adjustability

There is no adjustable heel loop, but you can adjust the base plate to help fit your boot size and footprint. The Bent Metal AxTion has all the normal tooless adjustability that you see with most bindings and it has a tooless forward lean too.

Stance Width Adjustability

With the Bent Metal Axtion you can turn the discs sideways and get a little extra slide from tip to tail. That is if you can center your boot in the binding.

Boot Support

We liked the boot support of the Bent Metal Axtion better than the Transfer and about the same as the Cor Pro. It didn’t have a really supportive feel but was enough to keep your ankle from feeling stressed/exposed n uneven terrain. The toe strap was really well done and gripped our boots well.

Ratchet System

The Bent Metal Axtion has a really well-designed ratchet system. You can crank it down hard and it releases easy.

Turn Initiation/Response

There is a very smooth predictable response throughout the turn.

Flex Under Foot/Buttering

The full sized disc doesn’t seem to affect the natural flex of the board but we would like to test this with another board we know better.

Shock Absorption/Dampness

Pretty middle ground shock absorption. If you want more go Core Pro. That has a lot more shock absorption but at the cost of a less board feel than the AxTion. So its up to you to decide what calls to you more.

So overall this binding doesn’t really stand out anywhere but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Because of this it seems like it can help a wide variety of board and boots work together and that is a good thing. All of us could have a good season if we only had these bindings to ride.
