Sawyer Insect Repellent Spray Video and Written Review

This is a review on the Sawyer Insect Repellent Spray. We tested this bug spray on multiple hikes throughout the summer. This spray uses Picaridin, which is a deep alternative that is safe to use on skin, clothes, and gear.

Picaridin

An insect repellent similar to Deet. But Picaridin is safe to use on skin and clothes. And this bug spray doesn’t have any smell or odor either.

Testing Conditions

I tested this bug spray on multiple day hikes throughout the summer, as well as on a 3 day backpacking trip. We have had an unusually buggy summer due to a lot of moisture and snow melt this season. We had plenty of mosquitos to test this spray with.

Effectiveness

I felt the Sawyer Bug Spray worked great, but I did feel that I needed to re-apply every 3 hrs or so even through the bottle says it is good up to 12 hrs. But I did feel it was very effective, I preferred this bug spray to previous feet sprays I have used in the past.

When I tested this with other people around who used a different bug repellent, the Sawyer Bug Repellent seemed to work a bit better than the brands they were using to keep mosquitos away. So I feel that this spray was very effective.

The bottle gives a nice even spray for decent coverage during application. I mainly used this bug spray on my clothes and I used the Sawyer Insect Repellent Lotion on exposed skin areas.
