Capacity

This 30L pack comes with a ton of options for carrying whatever it is you need on your adventure. It has a very large main storage area that is accessible from the front or the back of the pack. There’s a large top pocket as well that I used to carry my goggles and extra gloves in. There are countless outer pack carrying straps and options. As well as an outer helmet carry.

The Haute Route pack has various loops, hoods, and other options for any creative carrying needs you may need. As well as a large hip pocket that easy fits a large phone or a variety of snacks.

This pack comes with a hydration carry with a hose pass through, a place to carry your poles, ice ax, shovel, probe, rope carry, ski or snowboard carry and so many other options.

Fit / Adjustability

This is the smaller of the sizes for the Haute Route pack, and it fit my specs very well. The Haute Route pack models comes in 30, 32, 38 and 40 Liter size options as well as regular and short torso lengths. The chest and hip straps are very adjustable and I was able to cinch down the waist strap small enough for my size. The chest strap can be adjusted in length as well as adjusted vertically if needed. There are also shoulder strap adjustments that are key for packs carrying a heavy load.

The pack moved well when I was hiking, and stayed put on top of my hips without riding down, even with a fully loaded pack.

Snowboard/Ski Carry

There are options for carrying a snowboard (vertically) or skis. On top of a lot of other options for an ice ax, poles etc. Although I wasn’t able to use the helmet carry while my snowboard was strapped on the pack.

Riding In The Haute Route Pack

The nice fitting Haute Route pack made it very comfortable to snowboard with, it stayed put and didn’t move too much while snowboarding. Very comfortable pack to ride with

Shovel And Probe Pocket

I like that it comes with an easy accessible shovel and probe pocket, as well as an emergency card spot in the same compartment.

Frame And Back

The Haute Route pack has a metal frame that helps a lot while carrying heavier things. And there is ample cushion on the back panel as well as on the shoulder straps.

Conclusion

In conclusion, this versatile Ortovox Haute Route 30 pack offers a comfortable and technical backpack that would be ideal in a lot of different adventures. I loved all the different straps and features it offers as well as how well it fit and moved while hiking and riding.
