MSR Lighting Explore 2019 - 2018 Review by The Good Ride

The MSR Lighting Explore is a light well-built snowshoe but this review is from a snowboarders perspective interested in some occasional uphill travel. I thought the easy entry compared to the MSR Lighting Ascent might be a worthwhile tradeoff but I felt I liked the extra support when going uphill to ride down.  That being said I wouldn’t recommend either for snowboarders looking to dabble in uphill travel. After trying the Drift Boards shortly after doing this review, I couldn’t do snowshoes again unless maybe I was hiking up in hard snow.  They are just soo much easier.  They are about twice as fast in most situations and exponentially easier exertion wise.  Again this is from a snowboarders perspective and not someone who likes to snowshoe.
