Hest Foamy and Foamy Wide Written Review Review by The Good Ride

Welcome to the Hest Foamy and Foamy Wide Review from an indoor and outdoor perspective.

Summary

The Hest Foamy isn’t small or easy to travel with. If you have the room it is a very warm comfortable and durable pad.

A Breakdown Of How It Sleeps And Who Its For

How This Review Happened:

Precious Good Ride dollars were spent to buy this and review it.
Sizes: regular and wide

How It Was Tested

I used the Foamy and Foamy wide camping in my car, in a tent, in my house and in rentals when I traveled to snowboard or surf. I’ve used this in temps well below freezing to above 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Durability

One thing that separates the Hest Foamy from all the other pads is the durability. I trust this outdoors soo much more than all the other cheaper foam pads. The bottom is a very durable waterproof material.

Sizing

The Hest Foamy works somewhat well with the system sleeping bags but the Foamy wide is a little too much

Hest Camp Pillow

Pairing this with the Hest Foamy Camp Pillow really completes this set up. I never found a camp pillow that I liked and I tried many. This is the medium sized pillow and it’s pretty massive for a camp pillow. The Travel pillow is the smallest and is better for fitting in sleep system sleeping bags but it is a good bit smaller and less comfortable. I think if you are going for comfort I would for sure go for the Standard pillow as it’s only a little smaller than most regular pillows. If I could do it all over again I’d go Standard for sure but the Camp is super comfortable. I haven’t found any camp/travel pillow that is more comfortable.

Phone/Key Pocket

It is nice to have the Phone/Key pocket but if you get the regular sized Foamy and use a system bag like the Big Agnes Diamond Park or Camp Robber Bed Roll that I often use it is covered up. If you use a regular blanket or camp blanket it’s a good thing to have.

Comfort

The comfort of the Hest Foamy and Hest Foamy Wide is exceptional. This was the motivating factor behind buying this pad. When renting a place to sleep when traveling for snowboard or surf trips, I’m the guy who offers the beds to others. I just set up my foamy and often get better sleep than I would on the beds in rentals. At 4” thick it’s not completely bottomless but it’s better than anything else I tried. If you pair it up with the inflatable it’s bottomless but the foam only option is much cheaper and good enough. I haven’t found a comparable pad.

Warmth

The Hest Foamy offers serious warmth in comparison to almost any other pad on the market. The more I try pads the more I feel the rating system is not accurate or ubiquitious throughout the industry. This r-valve rating of 8.8 seems better than many competitors rated at 10+. This is great for my wife who runs very cold.

Price

My Hest Foamy is very

Connecting 2 pads

Connecting 2 Hest Foamy’s together helps for sure but it’s not like you have a single mattress. They can separate a little but it’s not bad. It would be best putting 2 25” Foamys together with the 50” sheet on top to further keep it together

Conclusion

I love these Hest Foamy Pads. I have decided to keep the Foamy and Foamy wide for different reasons. The Foamy is for my sleeping systems I own from Big Agnes like the Diamond Park and Camp Rober Bed Roll. Then when I have more room to sleep I use a blanket or a non-system sleeping bag and the Hest Foamy Wide.
