Durability: So far I have only used the Maven 45 a few times this summer, but I have owned a Gregory pack in the past and completely abused it and it is still in one piece. I owned the Gregory Jade pack for over 6 years and have taken that pack to multiple countries, motorcycle trips and backpacking trips. The only reason I purchased a new Gregory pack is because I lost the top compartment bag to my old pack. It seems like the Maven 45 is made with the same quality as my other pack, so I expect it to last just as long.

Capacity: My Maven is in size S/XS so it holds 43 Liters. In size S/M you would get the full 45 Liters. There are lots of exterior straps and loops for holding gear on the outside as well. For me, this pack has ample room for a 3-4 day trek. Or even up to a week if you pack super light.

Functionality: There are a lot of features I like about the Maven 45 pack. A few of the ones that stand out the most to me are the adjustable torso length. It is super easy to extend the length of the torso. And it is really helpful to custom fit the pack to your size.

The drawstring at the top of the main compartment is really easy to use and very functional. That may be one of my favorite things about this pack.

I like the back ventilation that this Gregory pack has. It helps wick moisture and keep your back cool.

One thing I feel like could make the pack more functional, is if the exterior straps were a little longer. I kept wishing they were a couple inches longer so I could strap my foam pad to the outside without using my own straps.

The lumbar support was a little hard for me. It may be because I don’t have much padding myself, but I kept wishing it had just a little more cushion to it when hiking.

Overall: The Gregory Maven 45 pack comes with a lot of cool features. The custom fit of the pack is great, and the ability to adjust the torso length is also a great thing to have. I thought it felt really light on my back, and it moved well well with me as I hiked too. I feel like longer accessory straps and a little extra padding on the back would make this pack even better. But overall it is a functional, lightweight pack that comes at a reasonable price.
