Summary

The Big Agnes Sidewinder 35 SL doesn't have a very large pillow space but it is one of the most comfortable sleeping bags I've ever tried.

Warmth

I found that the Big Agnes Sidewinder SL 35 was pretty close to it’s rating with a warm sleeping pad like the Hest Foamy or Sea to Summit Comfort Deluxe SI. I’m not sure how it would do if you put it on an inflatable with minimal insulation but it should do well enough since it’s insulated throughout.

Side Sleeping

I’m mostly a side sleeper and I have to say the combo of the Big Agnes Sidewinder SL 35 and my ultra thick/cush Hest Foamy really made side sleeping easy for me. I have never slept so well in a tent before. No matter how I tossed and turned at night the Sidewinder stayed with me.

Pillow Compartment

So the Big Agnes Sidewinder SL 35’s pillow pocket is a great idea but it was designed for thinner/smaller pillows. I love a big thick pillow. Especially for side sleeping. It couldn’t handle my Hest Foamy Pillow or my smaller REI recycled foam pillow either. I had to put my small REI pillow inside the bag and use it that way.

Liner

The liner of the Big Agnes Sidewinder SL 35 is incredibly smooth and comfortable. Sleeping in this in my underwear felt great. Some sleeping bags can feel a little slick or sticky but this felt great.

Packability

So I’m a car camper and not really someone who goes backpacking so I don’t usually need a real light sleeping bag or care’s too much about packability. However, I do like how light and packable this is for a 35 degree sleeping bag. It is also always good to have more space than less space in my Outback. Especially if I’m camping with my wife and 2 kids.

Conclusion

So overall, I could have gone with the Sidewinder Camp 35 instead of the SL but I’m glad I made the upgrade. It is light and comfortable and a great choice for those that side sleep, car camp and actually hike to a camping spot.
