Positives
- A very special mtn freestyle twin.
- Next-level buttering ability
- Exceptional Pop
- Just as Damp as the Agent
Negatives
- Not that forgiving
Summary
The Rome Agent Pro is a very special Mtn Freestyle twin that is exceptionally easy to butter, carve and ollie with. I had a blast with this board and liked it soo much I asked to keep it. The way the tip/tail are kinked up it creates a flat zone that makes this incredibly easy to butter with and on top of that it pops so easy on an ollie.Where To Buy

A Breakdown Of How It Rides And Who Its For
How This Rome Agent Pro Review Happened:

How It Was Tested
I often compared the Rome Agent Pro the same day. This isn’t fun to do but it’s the only way to know how it sits on the spectrum.
Approximate Weight
The Rome Agent Pro felt on the light side of normal but not like a lot of “Pro”/”Ultralight” kind of boards. (We don’t put in the exact weight because with wood cores there is no consistency in a boards weight)
Sizing
I would not trade this size for another and it was a great fit for my boot size, weight and not bad for my height. Usually “Pro” type boards don’t work well for my 180-190lbs but this could handle me no problem
Here are some ideal US boot sizes for these boards. You can of course go bigger or smaller depending on your riding style and boot’s footprint, but these work best for not turning the board slower than it should be and not having the dreaded Toe & Heel Drag.
151: 7.5-8.5
154: 8-8.5
157: 9-9.5
160: 9.5-10
155w: 10-11
158w: 10.5-11.5
161w: 11-12
For weight I think Rome’s recommended weight ranges are on the conservative side and you can go a little heavier to make sure you can better fits your boot size.
Shape
The Rome Agent Pro is a true twin with a centered stance and feels perfectly centered on reference stance.
Camber/On Snow Feel/Ability Level
The Rome Agent pro has a mostly camber profile with just a little bit of early rise but some unique bends happening with the nose/tail that I’ll talk about in the flex/buttering. This feels super stable and tracks super well but it’s also pretty locked in so it isn’t for beginners or intermediates as much as it is for advanced to expert rippers.
Flex Personality
The Rome Agent Pro has a very lively and energetic medium flex to it. This really pops easy on an ollie and just makes you feel better as a rider.
What I like even better is how well it butters. It doesn’t butter super easy but man it butters well thanks to the kink to flat section in the nose/tail they call Double Kick. Where most boards have spoon nose tech these days that feels washy, the Agent Pro does the opposite for a really satisfying butter. This is unique to the industry and it made me want to butter more than I normally do.
Uneven Terrain
The Rome Agent Pro is poppy but no more bucky/bouncy in uneven snow than the Agent. Its not amazing in uneven snow but it’s a very good all day ride.
Edge Hold
Pretty competent edge hold and it did ok in the hard morning spring snow I rode this on. Not a hard snow to ice specialist but pretty good.
Base Glide
The Rome Agent Pro had a pretty good base. Nothing unreal but competent glide for sure.
Speed
The Rome Agent Pro is no bomber board but it will straight line well into any size kicker you feel balzy enough to hit.
Turning Experience/Carving
I felt the turn initiation of the Rome Agent pro was medium/fast and it always went where it needed to go. When I got this on edge there is a pretty balanced/do anything kind of turning experience but with such great pop out of the turn. I would like to spend all day looking for air and working on switch carves with this ride.
Powder
I’m not a twin guy in powder but the Rome Agent Pro wouldn’t be the first twin I would reach for if I was going to twin it up in pow. This camber profile, very small bit of early rise to the somewhat short/kinked nose/tail isn’t confidence inspiring.
Switch/Park/Mtn Freestyle
True Twins, like the Rome Agent Pro are all but perfect switch. The only ride I like better for perfect symmetry are asym twins. They make less than perfect switch riders like myself better but this twin is pretty damn close to that.
This is an excellent park/kicker board but it’s also good for little hits around the mountain like I do.
Jibbing is pretty good. Especially if you are a technical jibber. This flat/kinked area in the tip/tail will really help you press out of most features in the park.
I think the Rome Agent Pro would be a pretty good pipe board as well.
Conclusion
This Rome Agent Pro really tickled my taint and it’s a board I want to spend a lot more time on. The combo of pop, butterability but not being chattery makes this a very recommendable mountain freestyle board. It’s a board I own and want to use as a standard in which to compare to other mtn freestyle rides I review.
