The Weston Rise got some updates for the 2025 season. They have narrowed the waist a bit, reshaped the nose and tail, changed the sidecut radius and also added some carbon to the board. They have also replaced the carbon stringers with S Weave Carbon Stringers that run tip to tail.

The Weston Rise likes small to medium radius turns, has a good amount of pop, and is a lot of fun for hitting natural features around the mountain, riding switch, and playing all over the mountain.

Waist Width

The previous version of the Rise was wide enough to qualify as a women’s mid-wide board. Weston has narrowed the overall waist width of the board for faster response and a more nimble feel. The 149 I tested had a 242mm waist width.

Camber Profile

The Rise still comes with a hybrid camber profile, so you get a snappy positive zone in between the feet that goes to early rise on the nose and tail keeping it maneuverable and catch free while still getting the technical benefits of positive camber.

Top Sheet

This board comes with a textured top sheet. I love these types of top sheets because they add grip when one footing and also seem to be a bit tougher for wear and tear.

Flex

The Rise felt like a 7/10 flex to me. It is stiff enough to offer a stable ride at higher speeds and through bumpy snow. But there’s just enough flex to keep it feeling a bit playful as well.

Carving

I had a lot of fun carving the Rise snowboard. It can carve while going fast, has great edge hold and also a snappy finish out of the carve. Very reliable and energetic to carve some turns on.

Off Piste

The new narrower waist width adds some nimbleness to the Rise when shredding off piste or through module. It is stable through bumpy snow but is still quick enough to turn around tight spots as well. I very much enjoyed the Rise in off piste conditions and situations.

Powder

This board is a directional twin and comes with 20mm of setback when the bindings are centered up. The small bit of early rise, stiffer flex, and slightly wider waist width (than the average women’s board) helps add some float in softer or deeper snow. You can also set the bindings back to get and added 2″ of set back on board as well.

The Rise handles great in powder, but is more for an experienced powder rider. It won’t do all the work for you. It is great for my style of riding however, since I prefer to ride a more twin board in all conditions. For a directional twin, the Rise is a great option for bigger mountain or powder riding. But a more powder specific board will offer more float and surface area for bigger storms.

The Weston Rise also comes in a spit board option.

Steeps

I really enjoy the Rise in steep terrain. It is very stable and reliable and has nice edge hold in more hard pack conditions as well.

Freestyle Personality

The Rise maintains its all mountain freestyle personality. A great board for those that like to mix freeride with freestyle snowboarding. It is not a beginner freestyle board by any means. But it is fun to dabble in the park with, very stable and poppy off jumps, and is friendly enough to throw in a jib or two as well. But I prefer the Rise in more natural freestyle features like wind lips, drops, tree jibs etc.
