The Soul Girl Powder Women's snowboard has a fun, energetic, surfy feel. The personality of the board comes out strong when you ride it. I felt inspired to take lines out of the ordinary for my riding. It is a tapered, very directional ride with a slight swallow tail. Although it has a somewhat aggressive appearance, it is very easy to ride if you have a good intermediate to advanced background in snowboarding. It felt very nimble underfoot and was fun to turn anywhere. But when you want to get serious it can charge down the mountain as well.

Soul Girl Powder Women's Snowboard Video And Written Review Review by The Good Ride

Ethics Statement: We don’t get paid by the manufacturer to write these reviews.  We do make money from the “Where To Buy” links, but this is our best attempt at an honest and objective review from an average rider’s perspective.

The Girl Powder has a medium to soft flex that allows you to twist the board quickly underfoot. I think that’s why it feels so nimble as you ride. The set back camber makes it feel stable to drive all the way through turns. It also adds a good amount of effortless pop when you load the board for ollies and jumps. And speaking of jumps, the tail of the Girl Powder has more kick in the reverse camber that raises it off the ground so it isn’t catchy if you want to ride or land switch on groomed snow. I found it difficult in soft snow because it would still grab a little. But on a groomer, you can play around with switch as well as land switch when you want to get creative.

Size: 149

Days: 4

Conditions: Powder, Packed Powder, Groomers

Riders: Steph

Boots: Vans Ferra

Bindings: Union Milan

Set Up: 19” wide, +19 front 0 back

Approximate Weight: Felt normal underfoot, but felt pretty light for having such a big nose on it.

Flex/Buttering: The Girl Powder is a 3/10 on the Soul flex scale. I noticed the softer flex on torsionally more than tip to tail flex. It made the board feel more nimble and faster to turn.

Sizing: 149

On Snow Feel: The Girl Powder felt semi-locked into me. Locked in sometimes because of the ample amount of camber it has between the feet. But because of the super short tail and rocker in the nose it still felt loose sometimes. And you get that slashy feeling on the tail too.

Edge Hold: I couldn’t find any ice to properly test it on, but with the amount of camber and the contact points with the snow, the Girl Powder has decent edge hold. It will feel similar to a traditional camber board on ice. It won’t hold as well as some boards with a type of traction tech or disrupted side-cut but should hold pretty well.

Turn Initiation: Turning was surprisingly fast on the Girl Powder. Edge to edge it is very easy to turn. I think it has to do with the soft flex so you can easily twist the board to help it get on edge even faster. The nose is pretty well off the ground so you don’t feel like you are trying to turn a big boat. You only feel the part of the board under your feet.

Turning Experience: The Girl Powder is super fun to turn, short, medium, and large radius turns come pretty easy.

Carving: Carving was very fun and fairly easy as well. I love that you can carve off the front foot or off the back foot depending on your style of riding.

Speed: It is easy to get this board up to speed, and it is stable at high speeds as well. It also comes with a Sintered PE base as well.

Uneven Terrain: The Girl Powder is easy to turn through bumps and chunder. It does pretty well powering over crud. It got a little bouncy sometimes (maybe due to the softer flex) but if you get in that situation you can always just quickly turn around any bumps you don’t want to absorb because it is so quick to maneuver.

Powder: Rides great in powder. It’s easy to stay afloat and also strong enough to charge through wind drifts. Or break through a wind affected crust on top of powder as well.

Switch: I think it is super cool that Soul gave the Girl Powder an extra kick in the tail so you can play around on it switch. The tail is raised enough that on hard pack and groomers that the split tail doesn’t feel catchy. But in softer snow, you can definitely feel it.

Jumps: It was fun to load the board and feel the energy transfer all the way through and release right behind the back binding. The Girl Powder has a good amount of pop and is stable when landing. The only thing is there is no tail to save you if you miss calculating a little and you will just loop out.

Jibbing: Not sure I could pull off jibbing with this board. But more Girl Powder to ya if that’s your sort of thing!

Pipe: I think this would be a lot of fun to slash down a slushy spring pipe and do wall carves. We didn’t have any pipes open when I had this board but would love to give it a go.

Overall the Soul Girl Powder is a very different, very fun board. It thrives in powder but also is inspiring and fun to explore all over the mountain with. If you are looking for a directional ride that can hang wherever on the mountain but charge in powder this could be a good option for you.
