The Rome Postermania is pretty decent mouintain freestyle ride.  It felt kind of like a slightly more narrow lower budget Rome Mod Rocker for the rider that likes a semi-aggressive flat to rocker twin.

The Rome Postermania was a board that I didn’t expect much from and those are always the best when you get more than you expected.

The 2011 Postermania was a fun board but we would have liked to see Rome incorporate the sidecut that the Rome Agent Rocker to have better edge hold and be more fun to carve out a turn.  For 2012 the Postermania added the “quickrip” sidecut and it made for a better all around do anything freestyle kind of board. It felt like the more forgiving version of the Rome Mod Rocker with a slightly more narrow waist.  The 2012 Postermania is more than your average park board and is one of the better flat/rocker twins we have ridden and a good do everything twin. The 2013 & 2014 Postermania didn’t’ change much.

On Snow Feel:  The Postermania is stable between the feet for one footing and flat basing.  It’s also pretty forgiving despite its semi-aggressive feel. It is not set up to take on the mountain like the camber Agent but for a true twin, we were really impressed. It’s the kind of board that can carve, jib, carve around the mountain. It’s not ideal for both but it can do everything rather well.

Powder: As far as a twin is concerned the Postermania did a pretty good job.  The flat between the feet plains well and the rocker keeps you afloat.  It’s not going to blow minds like some bigger rocker twins but it’s better than a camber board and some flat camber boards.

Turn Initiation and Carving-Like many flat/rocker boards the turn initiation isn’t super easy but it’s not hard by any means either.  We actually prefer this to the ultra-easy feeling to turn many hybrid rocker boards create.  You can make short quick turns or long carving turns.  The long carving turns part was pretty surprising for this board.  We expected less but it was just a bit better than average. That being said it still feels a little flat and there isn’t much spring out of a turn.

Speed: Again another surprise here.  We expected stability between the feet but the board is pretty damp for a park twin.  This was a lot of fun. Don’t get us wrong this is right on the average side of good but we were expecting average.

Uneven Terrain: I expected more from this board in uneven terrain but it just doesn’t move over the snow at slow speeds like the Agent Rocker or the Reverb.

Approximate Weight– Not super light but pretty light.

Edge Hold: We are big fans of the relatively new side cut that Rome introduced to many of their boards.  What they call “quickrip” is an interesting approach to the extension of the edges.  Instead of putting the extension of the edges right between the feet they put it out just a little further past the bindings.  It’s doesn’t extend that far but it runs for a while along the edges.  Here is the thing.  It holds an edge very well.  Even riding this after a magnetraction board we found ourselves not wanting more edge hold.  It’s hard to say how long this edge hold will last but from our experience so far the boards we have ridden have held up pretty well.

Flex: The flex is soft enough to butter but not so soft that you can’t deal with a little speed.  Very fun balance.

Switch: This centered stance true twin is incredibly easy to ride either direction.

Rails/Jibbing: The Postermania is not a dedicated jib board like the artifact but it does a good job for its flex and riding.  You can slide across most rails and deal with most jibs. If you are serious about the Jib park then get something else but if you like everything in the park the Postermania isn’t bad.

Pipe: If you don’t hit the jib park all the time the rails will stay pretty sharp to have enough grip up some of the larger pipe walls. It wasn’t ideal and didn’t have the wall to wall drive that some other boards have but it’s not bad for a visit.

Jumps: When it comes to pop there isn’t a tremendous amount and it felt a little flat. You can get a decent ollie going with some work.  When hitting the roller coaster park it’s very stable and predictable when launching and landing in the park.
