Ride Kink 2019 - 2018 Review by The Good Ride
The Ride Kink is a super fun reasonably priced jib board that we all really liked. Jimbo and Zobel, our more competent jibbers, loved this board and even someone who is not a strong jibber, like me (James) felt at home on it. The 2018 and 2019 Ride Kink seem the same to us so the 2018 review still stands. The only real thing I can see that changed is the price dropp

Size: 151
Days: 5
Conditions: Pretty good spring snow.
Riders: James (Size 9, 5’10” 185-195lbs), Jimbo (Size 11, 5’11” 160lbs), Zobel (Size 11.5, 6’ 180lbs,
Boots: Adidas Tactical ADV, Burton SLX, Burton Rover
Insoles: Sandsole Custom Insoles, Footprint Insole Technology Gameghangers Low Profile
Bindings: Union Superpro
Set Up: 22.5” Centered 15 front -15 back
Approximate Weight: Feels normal.
Flex: Medium soft in the middle bordering on soft but then soft in the tip/tail.
Buttering: Super easy to butter and like I said in the vid I buttered onto my ass 2 or 3 times coming from the Machete GT.
Sizing: 151 felt great but Zobes and Jimbo needed to go with a 154w.
On Snow Feel: Stable and felt almost like flat to rocker. Very easy to one foot with this camber profile.
Edge Hold: Not there but that’s expected and needed to jib.
Turn Initiation: It has a stable platform but it feels super quick.
Turning Experience: Surprisingly fun to turn for what it is.
Carving: Not really a carver but it wasn’t a mess.
Speed: Not that fast.
Uneven Terrain: Great in uneven terrain that you will see on your way to the park and the Ride Kink does a good job absorbing the micro bumps you might encounter.
Powder: no thanks.
Switch: Super easy switch and the only thing better would be an Asym version.
Jumps: Really only made for small kickers but it will do well there due to its a stable platform, little bit of camber and it’s an overall snappy ride. It’s got a good spring for an ollie.
Jibbing: This is where the Ride Kind really shined. Even I jibbed on it and felt like I wanted to jib more. Now Jimbo and Zobel really liked this and it was one of the highlights of the year for them. It’s got this dampness to it that is really unique for the flex so it doesn’t buck you off a rail but instead seems to absorb all chatter and lock-in. It’s really just a fun little ride that both Jimbo and Zobel would love to own.
Pipe: It would be ok if you didn’t de-tune the edges but you should de-tune the edges and just jib with this.
So yeah the Ride Kink mostly a jib board and a great one at that but you can have fun elsewhere in the park for sure and even take a really fun slow playful buttery approach to the mountain.
