Summary

The Never Summer Peacemaker has a soft almost freestyle flex that butters super easy, rides the park well and even the mountain pretty well for how soft it is in the middle but where it really turned me on was with the extra set back pair of inserts they call Powder Pack.  This little 152 I rode floated better than most all-mountain boards out there and even as good as some freeride boards. Very little has changed for the 2020 Never Summer Peacemaker so the review in 2019 still stands.

Never Summer Peacemaker 2019 - 2020 Review by The Good Ride

Ethics Statement: We don’t get paid by the manufacturer to write these reviews.  We do make money from the “Where To Buy” links, but this is our best attempt at an honest and objective review from an average riders’ perspective.

Size: 152
Days:   4
Conditions:   A bit of light fluffy leftover powder to really good mid-winter snow.
Riders: James (Size 9, 5’10” 185-195lbs)
Boots: Adidas Tactical ADV, Vans Implant
Insoles: Sandsole Custom Insoles,  Footprint Insole Technology Gameghangers Low Profile
Bindings: Union AtlasUnion Superpro, Burton Genesis
Set Up
: 22.5” Centered 15 front -15 back and when set all the way back 15 front -6 back around 21″ wide

Approximate Weight: Feels normal

Flex: Pretty soft to med/soft in the center but it stiffens up to about medium from the camber to the tip/tail.

Sizing: This 152 rode big for its size and I didn’t feel like it was too small.  I’m curious about the 155 though. If you want more mountain friendly the 155 and if you want more park friendly the 152.  I’d keep both under a size 10 though.

On Snow Feel: Same ripsaw feel underfoot that’s a little loose in harder snow when one footing/flat basing but it does get more stable in softer snow. Super forgiving and very easy to skid turns when off your game.

Edge Hold: Very competent grip in most conditions you want to ride.

Turn Initiation:  The Never Summer Peacemaker has a pretty quick transitioning edge to edge but it’s a 152. The 155 might be a bit slower but I don’t think it would scare me in any tight situation.

Turning Experience: It’s a little soft torsionally but it’s got a fun personality that you would think would be far less fun for how soft it is.  It’s a very playful edge to edge ride.

Carving: The stiffer flex under the camber portion of the board really helps it do a lot more than you would think. The Never Summer Peacemaker does hurry you up through the turn but at least the spring out of the turn is there at the end thanks to the Ripsaw camber profile.

Speed: Soft and bounces around a bit but it’s damper than you would think for its flex.

Uneven Terrain: So easy to weave in and out of bumps and absorb chatter.  It might buck you around a bit if you want to hammer through tracked snow or traversing areas but it’s great.

Powder: Ok here is what really surprised me.  When set all the way back this little 152 Never Summer Peacemaker outshined the Warlock 157156 Shaper Twin, 156 West and 158 Heritage I compared it against. It will blow doors on all the other double enders and twins in the NS line too. The Powder Pack inserts transform this soft flexing twin into a really proficient powder board and I’d love to see what this can do in a 155. With bindings that have full-size discs (min-discs won’t work) a 21.5″ stance width on the Powder Pack Inserts you have almost 5.5″ back on board. Most all mountain boards with set back inserts like this are often 5×2 plus 1×2 1.5″ back or 2×2 .75″ back. The Never Summer Peacemaker is 6×2 plus 1×2 so its further back by almost It’s more than any other set back inserts I’ve tried on a twin and it transforms this into a board that can float like a freeride board. I’d love to see these Powder Pack Inserts spread throughout the line but it would be great to see it start next with the Ripsaw and Shaper Twin.

Buttering: There is an easy break in the center of the board that makes this super easy to butter.

Switch: Almost as good as the Asym Funslinger but super predictable and easy like all true twins.

Jumps: Nice pop for an ollie.  It’s fine for people like me who small to medium but if you go big it might be a little soft.

Jibbing: Very competent jibber and that mellow flex between the feet really makes it easier.  It’s almost there with the Funslinger.

Pipe: I had a lot of fun in the pipe with the Never Summer Peacemaker.  As long as the edge hold is there it’s gonna be fun.

So to sum it up the Never Summer Peacemaker is a really unique board that I think will finally help that rider that wants a mellow mountain freestyle to freestyle ride that can also give you strong directional float in the deep deep.
