An Un-Paid, Un-Biased Breakdown Of How The Jones Women's Rally Cat Rides Review by The Good Ride
The Written Review of the Jones Women’s Rally Cat and Who It’s For

How The Jones Women’s Rally Cat Was Tested:

I borrowed the Jones Rally Cat for an extended demo and sent it back.

Approximate Weight
(We don’t put in the exact weight because, with wood cores, there is no consistency in a board’s weight)
Sizing

Sizing is all about balancing what fits your boot size and your weight for how you like to ride. If your boot is too wide, you can’t turn it; if it’s too narrow, you get the dreaded Toe & Heel Drag. Your weight is a close second to boot size because it determines how the board will feel under your foot. Height comes in a distant 3rd. Some prefer control, so matching the boot size is the priority. Others prefer dampness over control and like to size up.
I would stay close to the brand’s recommended weight ranges for weight. If it comes down to boot size or weight, I would ensure it fits your boot first and then your weight a close second.
Shape

The Rally Cat is a Directional Twin Shape with a 3D contour base.
Camber/On Snow Feel/Ability Level

The Jones Rally Cat classifies the camber profile as a positive true camber from tip to tail, however, it appears to have a slight early rise in the tip and tail possibly from the 3D contour. Its designed to be a mid-soft all mountain board for beginner to intermediate riders.
Edge Hold

The Rally Cat has a sidecut of 6.6 and a full medium camber profile, giving the board exceptional edge hold even as a mid-soft flex. Its limitations come with increased riding skill. If you are a progressive intermediate to expert rider, this board will be playful but not super stable at high speeds or with powerful carving.
Flex Personality

The flex of 2/5 on the Rally Cat gives this board an easy and playful feel, even with a full camber profile.
Uneven Snow

The Jones Women’s Rally Cat was challenging on uneven snow and required a lot of on-the-fly adjustments to keep the board underfoot. It handles better in softer conditions and on smooth surfaces
Speed
This board was designed to be accessible to beginner to intermediate riders; as such, it performs better on lower angle slopes and at low to mid speeds. When taken on steeper terrain, the board felt unstable, causing me to slow down and take quicker and more frequent turns.
Base Glide

Jones boards are notorious for having great base glide, and the Rally Cat is no exception. It has the same sintered 8000 base as their high-performance women’s board, the Airheart. On slope, it takes off quickly, and when skating through the lift line and onto the chair, the soft flex and quick glide make it easy to load and unload.
Turning Experience/Carving

This board was probably the easiest and most enjoyable turning experience I have had on a mid-soft board. I was surprised by the ease with which I could engage and come out of turns of varying degrees. It was quick underfoot on groomers, comfortable during skid turns, and could adapt to a longer turning radius on lower-angle slopes. I was able to get on edge and hold through the turn at lower speeds, but was not able to put power or speed into a more traditional euro-carve. Definitely not an ‘elbows-to-the-ground’ board but a great option for developing consistent turns.
Powder
This board was not designed for powder conditions, however, if a beginner to intermediate rider found themselves on the slopes during a 4+ inch pow-day, I believe the board would perform to a point. The 3D contour base lifts the nose enough to help the rider get above the snow, and the playful flex could make this board feel surfy in smooth conditions. If you are looking for a powder-specific board, I recommend something directional like the Mind Expander from Jones
Switch/Jumps/Pipe/Jibs

When Jones boosts this board as “easy-to-turn,” they were not kidding. I was able to switch ride as consistently as I ride regularly and was even encouraged to play around with switch buttering and ollies. As a freestyle board, this board would perform well. It’s soft enough to get a good feel on boxes or rails and easy enough to manipulate during jumps. I tend to prefer stiffer boards during jumps as they push back when loaded and pop higher with less effort, but I recognize that a beginner freestyle rider may not want their energy compounded in such a way. With that said, the Rally Cat was easy to load, and the camber gave it enough pop to clear jumps or rail edges.
Final Thoughts
It’s exciting to see women’s specific boards, such as the Jones Women’s Rally Cat, designed with progression in mind, especially an intro-level camber board. The Rally Cat is a perfect option for that progressive beginner to intermediate rider who wants to feel the edge hold of a camber board without the fear of catching an edge. It’s easy to turn, easy to manipulate, fast enough to feel confident in your skill, and frankly, a beautiful board to look at. I would not be surprised to see riders of all skill levels adding this board to their quiver for those days when all you want to do is to play.
