Gnu B-Pro Snowboard Review – By Steph W

The Gnu B-Pro C3 BTX Snowboard is a lot different from the C2 model that’s been around for a while.  This is a bump up in stability and also aggressiveness. Not much has changed from 2014-2016.

Mary is an aggressive rider who generally rides men’s boards and Ginger is an aggressive rider who generally rides women’s boards. So this is their take on the C3 B-Pro.

C3 technology really changes things up for the women’s side and the Gnu B-Pro C3 BTX gives women more stability and a more aggressive all mountain freestyle ride.

On Snow Feel: The B-Pro has a very camber feel compared to other hybrid cambers but it feels like easier camber. It’s stable between the feet and a great aggressive all mountain freestyle ride. Don’t get us wrong this isn’t camber made easy.  It’s camber made easier that can be catchy on occasion like camber boards. It’s still an aggressive board for riders that like more technical camber like ride with a little less bite. It’s best for Advanced to expert riders only here.

Powder:  The C3 is easier than camber but still not close to the C2 BTX when it comes to effortless float in powder.  This planes a little better than camber but you are still going to be more off the back foot. It would of been nice to see a -20mm set back here to make directional powder riding more fun and give it more of an all mountain feel. Let’s face it. The average rider benefits greatly from a set back stance in powder so why not accommodate most riders who are going to buy this.

Turn Initiation and Carving:  Huge improvement over the C2 model.  Both Mary and Ginger love to make good turns and especially carve.  This is easier than you would think for camber when it comes to quick edge to edge transitioning.  It’s kind of middle ground here.  Medium to wide radius turns are springy and fun.  Carving is exceptional for a twin and it’s a great board to carve regular or switch.

Speed: Very damp and the base is very good here too. If you compare it to a longer directional freeride board it’s not that fast but compared to most twin’s or directional all mountain boards it’s near the top.

Uneven Terrain: Better than you would think.  Maybe that submissive rocker between the feet does a good job absorbing extra shock and helps riders get their way through bumpy slow speed snow pretty well.

Edge Hold: As usual excellent grip and a great icy ride that provides more stability between the feet in the harder snow where C2 can be loose.

Flex: Feels Medium to Medium stiff.  It’s not terribly easy to butter compared to the C2 version but it’s not terrible.

Switch:  Very easy switch.

Jibbing: Not an ideal jib board but you can hit a wide box or easy bonk without too many issues.

Pipe: Really solid pipe ride. It drives very well from wall to wall and can handle a very hard pipe.

Jumps: There is really good spring going on here for generating your own ollies and it’s border line excellent hitting the kickers. If you like to find natural kickers all over the mountain
