Summary

The Capita Paradise is a directional twin that can ride all over the mountain in a playful way. It has a mellow personality that would fit well with an intermediate to advanced rider. The paradise comes with positive camber between the feet, and rocker on the nose and tail.

Capita Paradise camber profile

Camber Profile

The Paradise comes with Capita’s Resort V3 Profile. This has positive camber just past the binding inserts, going to rocker on the nose and tail. It feels stable on snow

Flex

4.5/10 flex on the Capita scale. It feels a touch softer/easy to butter on snow in the tip/tail but medium between the feet for stability at speed.

Base

Comes with a Superdrive FX Base. This base falls into the “sintruded” category. Which is a mix of benefits from the extruded and sintered base categories. This base has a fast glide similar to a sintered base and is also durable and tough to hold up when hitting jibs or rails.

Good speed and it’s got a dampness to it similar to directional all mountain boards.

Board Personality

The Capita Paradise is a playful all mountain ride. It has a nice mix of technical ability and catch free feel on the snow. It is quick to turn, easy to figure out when you first ride it. The Paradise has the capability to ride in a lot of different snow conditions and terrain types. It likes a medium to fast speed.

Steeps / Edge Hold

The Paradise feels great on steeps. It is fast to turn and reliable. This board prefers to make turns instead of straight line down the mountain. The positive camber gives it stability and good connection to the snow in harder conditions. The rocker allows for freedom of movement and quick turning.

This board doesn’t come with any sidecut disruption. But it does well in most hard to icy conditions. It isn’t an ice specialist but it gets the job done in most conditions.

Off Piste

I really like this board off piste. It is easy to maneuver through bumps and moguls, and does well in trees too. Since the Paradise has a 4.5/10 flex it does better at medium/fast speeds instead of high speeds. It requires a little bit of absorption with knees and ankles when riding over bumps and choppy snow.

Groomers / Turning Experience

It’s fun to turn on groomers. It has a technical side that allows for carving and turning but is also playful. The Paradise likes a small to medium turn radius and can do a mix of skidded and carve turns equally. It isn’t a cave specialist but can definitely dabble.

Powder

The Paradise does ok in powder. It rides better than a full positive camber board, but won’t be great for really deep snow.

If you like to set it back and ride one direction in powder this isn’t your best option. It’s best for those that ride switch a lot in powder and like to be centered in all conditions.

Furthest set back on board is -1.625″

Size 142, Stance Width 19.75″

Freestyle Personality

This board is fun in the park. It can handle jumps and has good pop like most Capita boards.  It’s not quite the pop star that the BOA is, but it’s close. The Paradise is also playful enough to hit some jibs on. It has a nice mix of poppy camber and playfulness that allows for progression in freestyle situations while still offering stability off jumps and in landings.

Overall

The Capita Paradise could fit a variety of different riders and could be good for a wide range of ability levels too. It is rated for intermediate to advanced rider, but could potentially be good for other ability levels depending on what you are looking for in a board. The Paradise has a consistent feel all over the mountain and does best at medium to fast speeds.

Boards with similar personalities: Arbor Poparazzi Camber, Coalition Queen Bee, Salomon Wonder, Yes Emoticon

Capita Paradise Past Reviews

The Capita Paradise Falls is the female equivalent of the Men’s Outerspace Living but the camber profile in the demo model we received didn’t have the same look. The rocker wasn’t as pronounced and neither was the camber.  It looked more like a flat to rocker board or a board with a micro camber and rocker.  My guess is the production model’s camber profile will look more like the Outerspace Living. Regardless of the camber profile Steph really liked this board. Other than the edge hold it’s a great one board quiver for those on a budget that like to ride switch as much as they do regular.

The 2018 Capita Paradise Falls is very similar to the 2017. But has a somewhat improved overall flex and slightly more dynamic personality. The 2019 Capita Paradise has an improved base that went from a high end extruded to low end sintered.  It’s still going to hold up well if you don’t wax it much and it will glide a little better if waxed consistently.  All this being said the ride is still similar enough that it wasn’t 100% necessary to ride it again.

Size: 145
Days:  30+ (Steph owns this)
Conditions:  Mostly hard crappy snow with some patches.
Riders: Steph
Boots: Salomon Kiana
Bindings:  Union Trilogy
Set Up: Centered 12 front -12 back 21″ wide

Approximate Weight: Felt medium to medium light.

Flex: Good flex that feels a touch softer/easy to butter on snow in the tip/tail but medium between the feet for stability at speed.

On Snow Feel: Nice stable board that’s easy to flat base and one foot.  What we like about hybrid camber boards like this is that they have a nice forgiving catch free stability that flat to rocker boards have but with more spring like a camber board.

Edge Hold: It did well enough in the conditions we had.  She could get it to hold its edge but she didn’t really want to commit to a harder turn.  It’s really best in medium to soft snow and than hard icy conditions.

Turn Initiation:  Steph liked the turn initiation and felt it had good spring edge to edge riding regular or switch.

Turning Experience: The Capita Paradise Falls is not perfect for those that really love to turn but it’s definitely on the more fun springy side.  It has the kind of balance that allows it to be a board you can turn, butter, ollie and then turn again.  So it’s good for being a board made to do a lot of different things well.

Skidded Turns: It’s really easy to skid your turns. And it’s an easy fit for an intermediate rider who skids their turns but is working to transition to someone who makes proper turns. Nice pop edge to edge and it can turn quickly in tight spots.

Carving:  On the video above Steph didn’t really get to test this the way she wanted to on a carve because of the harder snow.  Even the softer areas weren’t big enough to lay it out. Now that Steph owns the Capita Paradise Falls she has ridden this in all conditions.  It’s a fun good condition carver but when it gets hard she’s going to take out her Yes Emoticon because it’s got much more grip.

Powder:  Hopefully the production model will have more rocker in the tip/tail and this should be a fun ride for a twin.  However, if you like to set it back and ride one direction in powder this isn’t your best option. It’s best for those like Steph that ride switch a lot in powder and like to be centered in all conditions.

Speed: Good speed and it’s got a dampness to it similar to directional all mountain boards. The 2019, when waxed well, will have a little better glide than the 2018 but all keep their speed well.

Uneven Terrain:  It was too hard to really test there.

Switch: It’s a true twin so very good.  The only thing better would be an asymmetrical twin.

Jibbing: We didn’t jib that day because the snow was too hard in the park.

Pipe: No pipe available at the time to test with but it seems like a pretty good pipe board.

Jumps: Very good pop and like most Capita boards it has a nice lively feel underfoot. It’s not quite the pop star that the BOA is but it’s close.

Took my new Capita Paradise for a test ride today. Had to get used to it the first couple of runs as it made me be on top of my game, but after a few runs I really loved her! Light, dynamic, very responsive, slightly forgiving, but definitely not meant for taking it easy. She wants to go fast! If you are looking for an easy-going-just-cruising-the-slopes board, look somewhere else. I would not recommend this as a beginner board, as there are way more easy boards out there that will make it easier and more fun to learn. This is an awesome board for an intermediate / advanced rider. Take some time to get to know her and you'd love her!
