Quiksilver High In The Hood Jacket 2023 Review by The Good Ride

Ethics Statement: We don’t get paid by the manufacturer to write these reviews.  We do make money from the “Where To Buy” links, but this is our best attempt at an honest and objective review from an average riders’ perspective.

A big thanks to Gravity Sports at Mt Bachelor for giving us access to this.

How This Review Happened:  Borrowed this for an extended demo and sent it back. 1 day demo. A few laps at a demo. Liked it so much, asked to keep it (only do this with favorites).  Liked it so much we bought it.  Precious Good Ride dollars were spent to buy this and review it.

Fit

The Quiksilver High In The Hood Jacket fit my thick frame pretty well and it was flattering around the shoulders.

Construction

I didn’t expect much at this price point and I wasn’t dissapointed.

Waterproofing/Breathability

Not much happening here with 10K waterproofing and 5K breathability. It’s better than a hoody by a good bit but I wouldn’t trust it if you see a lot of wet snow.

Hood/Helmet Compatibilty

The Large Quiksilver High In The Hood Jacket barely fit a medium smith helmet so this is barely helmet compatible.

Cuff/Glove Compatibility

This could be a deal breaker for most. There are only 2 buttons around the elastic cuffs. I couldn’t get my gloves easily under or over them.

Pit Zips

work fine.

Pockets

Not a lot of pockets here with the Quiksilver High In The Hood Jacket. You have 2 small hand warmer pockets and one interior media pocket that is pretty small.

Powder Skirt

No pow skirt.

Conclusion

So overall, the Quiksilver High In The Hood Jacket is more of a style choice at a reasonable price point. If you don’t care about how the cuffs fit the gloves you are good to go.
