The Nitro Rambler is a reasonably priced well-built, adjustable binding that can work for someone on a budget.

How This Review Happened: We had a couple of laps at a frantic manic demo day.

Days: 1
Riders:  James (Size 9, 5’10” 185-195lbs), Peter (Size 8, 5’11” 185lbs), Zobel (Size 11.5, 6’ 180lbs),
Boots: Adidas Tactical ADV, Adidas Response
Insoles: Sandsole Custom Insoles, Footprint Insole Technology Gameghangers Low Profile
Boards: Nitro Santoku

Highback Flex: Pretty twisty but not too much give pulling it back.

Binding to Boot Adjustability: You can get most boots centered up well enough in this binding because you can adjust the heel loop and If I remember correctly, the gas pedal as well. We also liked the strap adjustability. You don’t always see this at this price point.

Stance Width Adjustability: The Nitro Mini Disc does a good job matching up well to most stance widths.

Comfort: Pretty comfy for all of us.

Boot Support: We all weren’t on the same page with boot support. I felt the toe strap held fine but it slipped off on Peter and Zobel. It doesn’t have any grippy material. If the toe strap holds then that combined with the medium-sized ankle strap, adds decent support but still has enough freedom of movement if you want a more park/buttery friendly ride.

Turn Initiation/Response: It’s hard to say at a demo but we felt the Nitro Rambler had a pretty smooth and easy response.

Buttering: The mini-discs for sure help with butterability and the Nitro Rambler felt like it wasn’t deadening the board underfoot too much so that is good. Other than the mini-disc and a little foam there isn’t much going on to reduce contact with the board We would like to test these against our favorites on an extended demo to see how well they compare to other mini-discs.

Ratchet System: Not good or bad. We didn’t notice either way.

Shock Absorption: There is some canted EVA foam on the top but not a lot and then there is a little bit under the base plate too. It was good enough to reduce chatter and help save your joints but there is thicker/better tech out there.
