Fabric

The sacks are made with water-resistant, bluesign® APPROVED Ultra-Sil 30D Nylon fabric with a non-PFC DWR finish.

“An incredibly lightweight yet durable fabric”

I made a point to try and cause damage to the fabric with abrasive materials and nothing left a mark. The fabric held up nicely and seems like it will be durable for a long time.

Water Resistant

These compression sacks are water resistant and come with a Non-PFC DWR coating. They can keep things inside dry for a bit if you get caught in the rain or see some unexpected water. I submerged the compression sack just to see what happened. And it didn’t take too long for it to become saturated. But it is for sure water resistant and will hold up for a bit if it gets a water on it.

Compression

I stuffed in the Sea To Summit Spark SpIII sleeping bag into the 8L compression sack. Un-compressed it measured 13 1/2″ tall.

Fully compressed it measured 8 3/4″ tall.

I kept the sleeping bag compressed for about a week. While it had the sleeping bag packed in it, the compression sack was moved around a lot and in and out of my backpack. The compression stayed nice and tight the whole time.

The 8L comes with 3 straps, with one strap that is removable via a clip.

The 13L comes with 4 straps, with two straps that are removable via clips.

Overall

The Sea To Summit Ultra-Sil Compression Sacks work well with making any soft gear smaller and more compact. I tried the 8L and the 13L. Both were very useful in helping organize and compartmentalize my luggage and backpack. I was able to compress my sleeping back down quite a bit. I like that the bags only add a few oz to my pack weight, so they aren’t much of a compromise to take along while traveling or on the trail.
