Ride OMG Table Video And Written Review Review by The Good Ride
Ride’s Hybrid Camber is flat between the feet, then has a short mellow camber bend down after the bindings and then rockers shortly after the camber bend down. So the tip and tail have some forgiving elements for how aggressive it is. This is a great ride for anyone who likes to take a speedier freestyle approach to the mountain. But still likes to keep it centered and ride switch. Because it’s Asymmetrical, it prefers a centered perfectly duck stance to work correctly. The more you deviate from that set up, the more the boards turning personality starts to change. The Ride OMG is for chargers only and if you want to butter or play around, look elsewhere.
Ethics Statement: We don’t get paid by the manufacturer to write these reviews. We do make money from the “Where To Buy” links, but this is our best attempt at an honest and objective review from an average riders’ perspective.
Approximate Weight: Feels slightly heavier than normal. But makes up for it in the super dampness it gives you when you are bombing downhill.
Flex/Buttering: Haha…ya no buttering here unless you are made of steel. The stiffness on the Ride OMG is medium but it’s not an easy board to flex.
Sizing: 138, 142, 146, 150
On Snow Feel: Semi locked in.
Edge Hold: The edge hold is good for your normal hard pack snow. It wouldn’t be my first choice in crazy east coast ice.
Turn Initiation: It’s not super fast in and out of turns but it gets the job done, just depends on how aggressive you want to be with it. But with a board this damp, there’s no need for turning anyhow…
Turning Experience: It turns but isn’t really lively underfoot.
Carving: Good, can hold an edge and make an arced turn. But wouldn’t be my number one for dragging armpits on the snow.
Speed: You can charge pretty hard on this board because it is really stable and you shouldn’t get any chatter, it also has a sintered base that if cared for right will stay fast for a long time.
Uneven Terrain: Holds its line well when things get choppy, but when they get bumpy you better be ready to power through some short radius turns or hold on for the ride.
Powder: Would ride ok in powder but wouldn’t be the best because it is a true twin and you wouldn’t be able to set it back too much. It does have a little reverse camber in the tip and tail but not too much.
Switch: Rides switch great like a true twin should and it’s also asymmetrical so that helps you get that heel side locked in even more.
Jumps: Very solid on jumps and drops with a crazy amount of pop and a very stable deck to land on.
Jibbing: The flat between the feet helps boxes and rails feel stable under you, but it is on the stiffer side so it’s a little slower to maneuver around.
Pipe: Rides solid in the pipe, holds a good line, has good pop; but isn’t super forgiving if you mess up.

Ride OMG Past Reviews
The Ride OMG had a makeover from its 2011 flat to rocker design to a hybrid camber shape for the 2012 and 2013 models. The image that shows what the hybrid camber is like does completely represent it. When we looked at the board it almost looked flat. When we looked closer you could see a very small camber between the feet and when you push down the tip/tail rise up a bit more than a standard camber board. So here is our take on the new hybrid camber OMG from Ride The 2014 OMG is pretty much the same as the 2013.
On Snow Feel: It’s a very stable semi-technical aggressive all mountain freestyle ride. It’s not quite as catchy as a true camber board but there still is some consequence if you aren’t on your game compared to their flat to rocker shapes. It’s perfect for those that like camber but want a little more forgiving ride and a little more float in powder. Even though this is a twin we were pleasantly surprised with its ability to move around the mountain with good speed. It’s fast and fun so if you like riding bombing the hill switch or regular this isn’t a bad choice. It also likes to stop in the pipe and hit jumps of any size in the park.
Powder: We didn’t have any powder this day but we can tell this would be better than the olcer Camber versions but still not as good as many of the other hybrid rocker or mostly rocker hybrid camber twins out there. It will be fine in light fluffy powder but as it gets thicker and deeper this will be a lot of work.
Turn Initiation and Carving– We liked the Turn initiation because it wasn’t terribly easy to transition from edge to edge. It will take a little work and could be challenging for Beginners and Intermediates. We found short radius turns to be pretty good but wider radius turns are a bit more fun. When we lay into a carve it was fun like a camber board. It’s no directional freeride board but very fun to carve for a twin. .
Speed: This is an ultra damp twin with a good base that can handle speed very well for a freestyle board. You can have fun on the mountain with this and straight-line regular and switch. There are no issues going fast on the OMG. It’s got a pretty decent glide in flats and long cat tracks.
Uneven Terrain: Pretty Good in bumpy uneven snow. Rides higher end boards help reduce shock in bumpy slower speed conditions as well as they reduce chatter in higher speed conditions. Ride makes boards that feel thicker than they are so even though the boards flex is more of an all mountain one it handles chunder and bumps much better than it should.
Approximate Weight– It’s no light weight board but it’s not heavy either. It’s more in the middle of the scale. If you are sensitive to heavy boards riding on the chair this might be border line. On the hill it won’t feel terrible.
Edge Hold: We were a little disappointed with the edge hold. We gave it a good rating but was closer to the average side than good. It held and edge on a carve in firm conditions but it didn’t have that confidence inspiring grip when it came to hard pack turns. We both held back on laying into the edge and really leaning into the turn. This would not be a board we would recommend for anyone who rides in hard to icy conditions.
Flex: This is on the stiff side of medium and wasn’t really very playful if you want to butter around the mountain. It’s more catch free than the Camber DH but this isn’t what this board is made for.
Switch: To us there was no difference riding switch vs. riding regular.
Jibbing– You can go to the jib park with this but you would be happier in the pipe or hitting jumps.
Pipe: If you ride mainly in good conditions in the pipe this will be a very fun board. However it lacks the ultra grippy edge that will make riding an icy pipe fun. Still we liked the feeling in the pipe and if you like a stiffer pipe board then you will be pretty happy.
Jumps: We liked the spring of the OMG and felt this had a bit more spring than many of the flat/rocker Ride boards we tried. We have ridden boards with more pop but this is still really fun to lap the roller coaster park and hit kickers of any size. It’s also not bad when it comes to generating your own air.
Our overall impression is the OMG can be a very fun board for the rider who gets good snow and likes to spend most of their time pulling freestyle maneuvers at higher speeds all over the mountain.
