Summary

Davey Boy here, bringing you a big guy’s perspective on the Lib Tech Skunk Ape Camber. This is a board with a thirsty base. It takes a lot of waxing to keep the optimal glide. While it can be technical and a little catchy due to the full camber, and it doesn’t have the best powder float, it shines with amazing grip, epic pop, and its ability to handle uneven snow really well. I’m talking certified chunder buster status here. If you’re a bigger rider who likes classic camber, this is a board you should look at.

Sizing

This review is on the 165 wide. I’m 6’3.5”, 250 pounds, with a size 12 boot, and this board fit me perfectly. The length and width felt just right, never too slow or clunky. Riding it made me realize why the Skunk Ape has such a strong following in the big rider community.

Shape

The Skunk Ape Camber is directional with a slight taper, though it feels pretty centered underfoot. It has a one-inch setback on sidecut, with the reference stance not published.

Setback

My measurement puts the stance at 22.75 inches, 1.075 inches back from center. If you want to set it back for a powder day, you can push it to 23.6 inches, giving you 2.3 inches back from center.

Camber Profile

Lib Tech Skunk Ape Camber Camber Profile

This is a true full camber snowboard from nose to tail. No early rise, nothing but classic camber. The result is a board that tracks aggressively and rewards advanced riders. It’s not the best choice for intermediates because it can feel catchy, but if you like locked-in camber performance, this is it. Compared to the C2 version, the Camber is less forgiving but more precise.

Flex

This board sits on the stiff side of medium-stiff. Perfect for supporting heavier riders. The tail is especially stiff, with the nose slightly softer but still aggressive overall. Buttering isn’t this board’s strong suit; the stiffness and camber make it harder compared to the rocker version. However, the stiffness translates into explosive pop and ollie power when you commit.

Uneven Snow

This is where the Skunk Ape Camber truly shines. It blasts through chunder and uneven terrain like a tank. Compared to the rocker version, which can feel twitchy, this one stays stable and damp. A whole tier above most boards in rough snow.

Edge Hold

With aggressive Magne-Traction edges and camber, this board is an East Coast and ice specialist. Tremendous grip and edge hold make it unbeatable on firm conditions. While the C2 holds well too, it doesn’t offer the same locked-in stability as this camber profile.

Turning

The Skunk Ape Camber is quick edge to edge, though the C2 is slightly faster thanks to rocker lift. The 8.6m sidecut radius offers a balanced turning experience. Capable of long drawn-out carves, tight circles, and everything in between. The spring out of turns is exceptional, no matter your stance pressure.

Speed

This board is fast, stiff, and aggressive for an all-mountain ride. It’s not an ultra bomber, but it’s definitely on the high-performance side.

Base Glide

The knife-cut sintered base, however, is wax-hungry—you’ll need to wax it frequently to maintain speed and avoid drag, especially in wetter snow.

Switch, Park, and Jumps

For a directional board, it rides switch surprisingly well. It holds edge confidently in the halfpipe and has great pop for jumps. Landings feel stable and supportive thanks to the stiff tail. While not built for jibs, it excels at natural features, rollers, and transition pops.

Powder

Powder float isn’t its strongest area, but for a full camber board with limited setback, it performs better than expected. Bigger riders who are used to camber and know how to maintain speed will be fine, especially at resorts with less bottomless terrain like Mount Bachelor.

Final Thoughts

I’m now a Skunk Ape Camber loyalist. While the C2 version never wowed me, this camber profile has completely changed the game. It’s one of my new favorite boards. A true big guy’s, chunder-busting machine. Damp, stiff, aggressive, poppy, and an absolute carving beast. If you already own a powder board, pairing it with this camber Skunk Ape makes for an ideal two-board quiver.

For bigger riders who see a lot of hard snow, this board grips like an arm-wrestling champ from Oklahoma.
