Dinosaurs Will Die Maet 2015 Review by The Good Ride

The Dinosaurs Will Die Maet is a mellow camber board that has a mellow playful freestyle to all mountain freestyle feel for those that like camber but don’t want too much so it doesn’t make the board too technical.

Ethics Statement: We don’t get paid by the manufacturer to write these reviews.  We do make money from the “Where To Buy” links, but this is our best attempt at an honest and objective review from an average riders’ perspective.

Size: 152
Days: 1
Conditions: Good groomed snow in some places, hard to icy in others and a little slush at the end of the day.
Riders: James
Boots:  Burton Hail,
Bindings:  Union Contact Pro,
Set Up: Centered 23” wide 15 front -15 back

Approximate Weight:  feels normal to light

On Snow Feel: really stable without being camber catchy.  It’s got a playful snappy feel to it that makes it fun to ride in a lot of different locations on the mountain.

Powder:   No powder but really not the kind of board I’d want to be in powder with.

Turn Initiation:  Really snappy and lively edge to edge for short radius turns. Medium to wide radius turns were good times too.  Made for a good time riding around the mountain.

Edge Hold:  Edge hold isn’t exceptional but when in good conditions it springs really well out of a turn for a small board a bit on the flexy side.

Carving: So you can carve with this board but it’s not a dedicated carver.  It’s more of an all-around butter, ollie then carve kind of board.

Speed:   Pretty stable and it didn’t feel like anything bomber or anything super chattery either.  Felt more like the parky side of the speed game. No issues with the glide of the base in long flat sections.

Uneven Terrain:   Pretty forgiving and easy here especially in bouncy slushy snow. Yeah, it bucked you around but every board would in this terrain.

Edge Hold: Nothing special but nothing bad either. Very middle ground.  It’s just a standard sidecut and you can feel it but the edges do start out sharp. Some hard to bordering icy patches I hit slid pretty easy but t

Flex:  Really easy med/soft flex that made it

Switch:  Felt the same either way.

Jibbing: Not confidence inspiring like the Rat but if you are an accomplished technical jibber you might really like this camber board.

Pipe:  No pipe available but if it’s soft I bet it would be pretty fun and have nice drive wall to wall. Carving has some similarities to pipe riding so you could tell it’s probably going to be fun.

Jumps:  Before I rode this I thought it looks like a nice poppy playful camber ride and after I felt the same. For me, this was one of the better parts of this ride and I could spend all day with this in the park.  I expected more consequence because of the camber but never really felt like it was going to catch when I was off my game. It’s still not a forgiving hybrid or rocker shape but it’s much better than I expected for camber.
