The 3L Ravine fit with a pack

Fit

I tested the Small and Medium sizes out. For me, and my personal preference, I felt the Medium fit me the best. Mostly because I prefer a longer arm length. But the small also fit pretty well. The jacket has a slimmer fit without being too tight. I had plenty of comfortability in the shoulders. I also liked that the torso didn’t lift up too much when I raised my arms up. Making it quite comfortable to hike and snowboard in.

20k Waterproofing

Waterproofing / Breathability

The 3L Ravine Shell is very breathable. This is great for more active riders, or those that like to get some hikes in as well.

For waterproofing, I did test it in some stormy weather, but it was pretty cold out. I have yet to test it in more wet conditions, but from the water tests I did, the waterproofing held up great. And it did keep me dry in the snow storms I used it in.

PocketsWaterproof Zippers

Pockets

The Ravine comes with minimal pockets, but they are well places. There are two large outer chest pockets that fit well when wearing a pack. One pocket comes with a phone sleeve as well to keep your phone from moving around while riding. Both pockets are spacious, and come with waterproof zippers.

Size small of the 3L RavineSleeve cuff

Cuffs/Glove Fit

The cuffs on the sleeves are plenty wide enough to fit bulky gloves underneath. And the material is compact enough that you can cinch the cuffs down to fit under gloves if you’d like. The design is pretty minimalistic, which I like a lot. There are no wrist gators, and the sleeves have plenty of length to create a nice seal between the cloves and the jacket so that no unwanted weather gets in.

Hood and helmet fit of the RavineHood and helmet fit of the ravine

Hood

The 3L Ravine Jacket has one of the best hood/helmet fits I’ve experienced. The hood fits nice and snug around the helmet, but there is no restriction in movement. No pulling on the shoulders, and the hood offers clear peripheral vision as well. I can fully turn my head from side to side while wearing the hood over my helmet.

Ravine bottom hem

Bottom Hem

The bottom hem comes with a minimalistic bungee as well as a silicone covered hem to keep the bottom jacket in place.

Taped seams and merino wool panel Inner liner of the shell

Shell

The shell is quite comfortable and has a lot of flexibility even though it has a high rating of waterproofing. The backing to the shell is also soft to the touch and moves well which adds comfort as well. The Ravine also comes with fully taped seams throughout the whole jacket.

Conclusion

If you are looking for a technical shell that offers awesome breathability, quality construction, and great waterproofing, the 3L Ravine Shell is a great jacket for that. It fits great, comes with fully taped seams, and would be ideal for backcountry tours too. For a slimmer fitting jacket, there is still plenty of room to layer up on cold days.
