How This Review Happened

We were fortunate enough to visit the Jones headquarters in Truckee California and film this review in their beautiful new studio.

The Jones Shralpinist Gore-tex Pro Jacket has a normal fit. It is on the minimalist side, design wise. However, it is not a tight fitting jacket.

The extra burley three layer gore-tex pro fabric in the hood and arms provides ultimate protection, while the more breathable gore-tex fabric throughout the body allows for extra heat dissipation. The Jones Shralpinist Gore-tex Pro Jacket has no waist pockets. This allows it to fit as sleek as possible under a backpack.

Gore-tex pro is the pinnacle of waterproofing technology. I haven’t been able to test this exact jacket, but I have worn other gore-tex pro jackets and they will keep you dry for hours in the rain. The breathability on gore-tex pro is also very good given how waterproof the fabric is. Not going to be as breathable as the Shralpinist stretch jacket, but this jacket is a good amount more waterproof.

Hood/Helmet compatibility

We love the contoured hood on the Jones shralpinist gore-tex pro jacket. Excellent fit with the large jacket over the medium helmet. Expecting a medium jacket hood to fit a medium sized helmet no problem.

Cuff/Glove Compatibility

Easily fits over a normal glove, as well as, underneath a glove with a large wrist cuff.

Backpack Compatibility

The jacket fits great under a backpack. This jacket is designed for uphill travel with its streamlined design. The removal of waist pockets reduces hang ups on backpack straps and increases the long term durability of this jacket.

Venting/Pit zips

The Jones shralpinist gore-tex pro jacket has two large armpit zippered vents. Not mesh lined for optimal heat displacement.

Two extra large zippered chest pockets with a beacon loop and inner mesh pockets for extra security. Pass/Stash pocket on the sleeve. One medium sized zippered inner chest pocket.

Powder Skirt

The Jones shralpinist gore-tex pro jacket comes with a fixed powder skirt.

This is a great jacket, especially for touring. This jacket is ideal for big days that bring variable conditions. This is going to handle every condition the mountain can throw at you. The three layer gore-tex pro fabric is the pinnacle of waterproofing technology. The face fabric also consists of 100% recycled nylon.
