Summary

Relaxed fitting, slightly insulated jacket is ideal for resort riding. If you run cold, or are exposed to very low temps, this could be a great touring jacket too. Jones mountain surf jacket has an extra burly, black fabric in the shoulders, arms and back. This fabric not only increases the durability of this coat but it will help with shedding snow as well, increasing the impermeability of this jacket. 4 way stretch fabric throughout the body.

How This Review Happened

We were fortunate enough to visit the Jones headquarters in Truckee California and film this review in their beautiful new studio.

Fit

The Jones Mountain Surf Jacket is a little baggier than the rest of the jackets in the Jones outerwear line.

Construction

The Jones Mountain Surf Anorak has a four way stretch fabric throughout the body. It also has a durable two layer construction in the high exposure areas. This rugged fabric is the type of material that sheds snow efficiently. The seams are welded strongly and the stitching is very high quality. The zippers a smooth and don’t catch.

Waterproofing/Breathability

We haven’t field tested this jacket. The jacket is rated at 20k waterproof/ 20k breathability.

Cuff/Glove Compatibility

Easily fits over a normal glove, as well as, underneath a glove with a large wrist cuff.

Backpack Compatibility

The Jones Mountain Surf Anorak has a slightly baggier fit that can bunch up a little bit when wearing a backpack with straps. Reinforced in the shoulders for extra protection from backpack straps.

Venting/Pit zips

There are two large armpit zippered vents with the Jones Mountain Surf Jacket. Not mesh lined for optimal heat displacement.

Pockets

4 large outer pockets. 2 large zippered chest pockets with a strap to held hold media devices in place. 2 Large zippered waist pockets.

Powder Skirt

The Jones Mountain Surf Jacket has a fixed powder skirt.

Conclusion

The Jones Mountain Surf Jacket has a relaxed fit and medium warm insulation. It is an excellent choice if your looking for a great all around resort jacket. Extra burly fabric will shed snow better than the stretchy fabric throughout the body. This will help keep you dry better than normal 20k waterproof rated jackets.
