DC Command Jacket 2019 Review by The Good Ride

The DC Command Jacket is a nice low-cost alternative to Gore-Tex jackets that still has some pretty solid waterproofing and breathability. Sympatex might not have the waterproofing and breathability in comparison to other jacket’s out there with the same rating but I can say from experience with other Sympatex jackets I have owned that it does a great job.  On top of that, it is a very functional and recommendable daily driver for those looking for a shell. It also has a pretty flattering fit.

outer shell absorbed water

Feb 24, 2021 by North Idaho

Days You Ride A Year: 10-24

Unfortunately the outer shell started to absorb water within a few minutes of a light snow fall. A large majority of the shoulders, back and arms were saturated with in 20minutes. Yet in some areas on the sleeves water was beading up and rolling off the jacket. The water did not leak thru the sympatex membrane or the taped seams. Yet the jacket became heavy and cold by mid day as the the outer shell continued to absorb water. This was extremely disappointing.
DCshoes/ Warranty USA has offered to replace the jacket upon inspection. Customer service mentioned there could have been a failure of the DWR application to shell in the factory.
I am hopeful this was an anomaly and the replacement jacket selected (DC Company or DC defiant) will do the job as advertised.
The fit was good. I am 5'10, 177 lbs, size Large
the quality of hook and loop closures was poor. it appeared with after wearing the jacket 4 times the thread was coming loose.
zippers were good quality
the hood covered about 3/4 of my helmet (bolle L-XL)
