ThirtyTwo Lashed FT 2014 - 2012 Review by The Good Ride
The 32 Lashed Fast Track is the same. This is a really comfortable boot and works well for mid to wide footed riders. If you can get past the bad traction of the single mold EVA foam this could work.
Ethics Statement: We don’t get paid by the manufacturer to write these reviews. No one is perfect and we do make money from the “Where To Buy” links below, but this is our best attempt at an honest and objective review from an average riders’ perspective.
Days: 4
Riders: James and Peter
Bindings: Burton Cartel, Union Force, Union Contact Pro, Burton Malavita
Boards: Jones Mountain Twin, Never Summer Proto, Lib Tech TRS
Flex: Pretty mellow flex that gets softer pretty quick. The flex is closer to the medium side of soft.
Response: Not super responsive but it can turn more mellow turning boards like the Proto and TRS that we rode this with. I started to feel it’s softer nature with the Jones Mtn Twin but it still worked.
Comfort: Thirty-Two is really near or at the top of its peer group when it comes to comfort. Every foot is different but most will be happy day 1 with these boots. They instantaneously felt comfortable.
Heel Hold: Not bad for me and Peter but we aren’t paranoid over heel lift. If you are It would probably be better to go to BOA.
Adjustability: Fast Track is one of those boots that have complete separation of upper and lower lacing so it makes it great for those like me who like a tight upper and a loose lower. If you try to do that with most BOA boots the upper tightens around the ankle which to me is the lower. We have heard complaints that the Fast Track lacing system can come loose while you are riding and we aren’t super into the locking mechanism. Still, if you take care of your boots you shouldn’t have a problem.
Flex Retention: Both Lashed models have an articulating cuff which will slightly improve performance but also make the boot’s original flex last longer. That helps the boot hold up but Thirty Two isn’t known for breaking down quicker than other boots. So it seems like you pay a price for that outstanding comfort.
Shock Absorption: The sole is all EVA so it makes for a very soft shock absorbent sole.
Traction: What makes it so great with shock absorption makes it pretty bad for traction. We at the Good Ride aren’t fans of Single Mold EVA soles. They wear down fast and don’t have good traction in ice and hard snow.
Footprint: There is about a 1/2 size reduction that is pretty good. It’s not at the top of the reduction chart but it’s keeping with the times. I’d like to see more of a curve up at the toe and heel part of the
On & Off Ease: Speed lace is very easy on and very easy off. It’s just a few pulls to get it off and a few to get it on.
