K2 Sapera 2016 - 2012 Review by The Good Ride
The K2 Sapera has a BOA on the outside and a speed lace for the liner. Although not very adjustable, is not a bad boot in terms of comfort and performance. We like the K2 Passage better because it has K2’s endo construction but this could work if you need to save $30.
Ethics Statement: We don’t get paid by the manufacturer to write these reviews. No one is perfect and we do make money from the “Where To Buy” links below, but this is our best attempt at an honest and objective review from an average riders’ perspective.
Flex: Nice middle ground flex.
Comfort: Like all K2 boots the Sapera is very comfortable.
Heel Hold: Very good heel hold and if you crank down the BOA enough your heel won’t even move.
Adjustability: No adjustability here. Both the inner and outer lacing system tightens the whole boot. There is zero separation between upper and lower. It’s all outer and inner.
Flex Retention: We like the Passage better because for $30 more you get a flex that lasts a long time.
Response: Very mid-level response that is good with most easy to medium turning boards.
Traction: Not bad but nothing to write home about.
Shock Absorption: Nice shock absorption.
On & Off Ease: Very easy on and off. K2 is the best when you want to take off your boots. Some would rather have better upper and lower adjustability but some want the easiest process possible to get your boots on and off. K2 is the best with this. It’s faster than Speed lace and other BOA boots because the liner lacing system is on the outside
All in all the K2 Sapera is a decent boot with decent performance. If quick in and out is what you are about then this could work.
