Burton Cartel LTD 2015 Review by The Good Ride
The Burton Cartel LTD is a late release binding that is very similar to the regular Cartel but with a little influence from the Genesis and Stay Calm. It’s very much the same ride and feel of the Cartel but the Genesis ankle strap combined with the Stay Calm Heel hammock make this binding a little more responsive and a give your boot a little more support with a little more of a locked in feel. It’s a very fun binding and a nice take on the original Cartel. It also has the higher end ratchet/strap system that we felt was pretty good and a little quicker than the standard strap system which is really good. So none of this tech is new but like so many companies the parts are all like Lego’s and swap-able. It’s a fun idea and it definitely gives the LTD a little bump in performance compared to the standard model. The standard Cartel is still our favorite but if you can find this and want a little more support then go for it.

Days: 1
Riders: James
Boots: Burton Fiend LTD
Boards: Jones Mountain Twin
Flex: Same flex and very similar feel to the Burton Cartel.
Adjustability: Same great adjustability as the Burton Cartel and most Burton Bindings.
Comfort: Very comfortable. I personally like the current Cartel ankle strap a little better than the higher end one on this LTD version but I’m probably in the minority. I really like this strap too though and there are no pressure points for me.
Turn Initiation: You know a little better than the standard Cartel but still not as responsive as the Diode.
Buttering: Same butterability.
Boot Support: Similar support but a little more with this ankle strap. Not too much but just a little more.
Ratchet System: Smooth and perfect.
Shock Absorption: Just like the regular Cartel.
