Summary

These Hurricane Matches from UCO are windproof and waterproof, and would make a great companion for camping in damp climates or windy environments.

UCO Hurricane Matches 2023 - 2020 Review by The Good Ride

Testers: Steph

Weight: 0.8 oz

This matchbox came in my Nomadik Subscription Box for July 2020. You can check out everything else that came in the box here.

Functionality: We tested the UCO Hurricane Matches in some pretty windy Eastern Sierra conditions and they lit no problem. They burn down pretty quick with the wind, so just be ready to light whatever it is you are lighting. We also soaked a match for about 5 min completely submerged in water. It lit without a problem, and burned for over 15 seconds.

The only thing to watch out for, is if you light the match while holding the end, the matchstick tends to break in half. If you hold the match about halfway up when striking, it seems to eliminate this problem.

Overall: I was super impressed with the UCO Hurricane Matches. These would be a great backup to have on  a backpacking trip. They seem to light no matter what.
