How This Review Happened:
Precious Good Ride dollars were spent to buy this and review it.
Days: 5+
Conditions: Everything from Sunny to some snowy days
Fit
The Smith Pursuit fits a little big for me, which is okay because they are going for a goggles/sunglasses hybrid design. The problem I have is that the snow bounces off my forehead and into the lens unless I choose to wear a wide-brim hat.
TPU Side Shields
The magnetic side shields are great and much easier to put on and off vs. the Venture and Embark.
Temple Tips Hit The Lens
I forgot to mention in the video review that the temple tips hit the lens when folded. That is a problem because it scuffs the lens over time.
Photochromic Lens
I found that the Copper Red Mirror Photochromic lens is pretty versatile. However, it tints pretty quickly once you get out of your car in the morning and start going uphill. I wish it tinted less in low light, but overall, it’s pretty nice to have.
Interchangeable Lens
I really like that you get a clear lens, and it’s an interchangeable system.
Nose Pad
The nose pad on the Smith Pursuit is a great idea, but I wish they had made it a little bigger for medium to larger noses like mine. My med-large nose sticks out just enough to give me a super weird nose tip tan.
Straps
These straps are unique for sunglasses and mimic the straps you get with Smith Goggles. They hold well
Anti Fogging
Smith kills it with antifogging, and the Pursuit is the best pair of sunglasses I’ve tried, but only by a little bit compared to my Embarks.
Conclusion
So for me the temple tips hitting the lens and the snow getting in is a deal breaker but I really like the concept of the Smith Pursuit and would like to see it evolve.
